Jan McNulty
Northern Ballet are presenting a mixed programme at their Quarry Hill, Leeds home theatre from 5th - 9th June 2013. This from the company website: "Dutch dance master Hans van Manen has created more than 100 short classical ballets during his illustrious 60 year career with, amongst many others, Nederlands Dans Theater and the Dutch National Ballet. Northern Ballet dancers will be performing van Manen's Concertante, a classical ballet inspired by and set to Frank Martin's Petite Symphonie Concertante. We dare you not to be moved by the breathtaking Angels in the Architecture which makes a welcome return to Northern Ballet's programme. Created by the American choreographer Mark Godden and danced to Aaron Copland's beautiful Appalachian Spring, it is based on the lives of the Shaker people. Kenneth Tindall's star is on the rise. The British dance maker, who is also a Premier Dancer with Northern Ballet, created his debut piece Project#1 for the 2011 Mixed Programme. It won the Bundesjungendballett Production Prize at the 26th Choreography Competition in Hanover. This much anticipated follow up is not to be missed. You won’t see Northern Ballet perform this Mixed Programme anywhere else and the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre is the perfect space to enjoy the Company's athletic and talented dancers."
