Canary Posted December 10, 2021 Posted December 10, 2021 Think they might need to proof read the advert 1

Pas de Quatre Posted December 11, 2021 Posted December 11, 2021 These days who knows. There are a lot of photos on social media of male dancers on pointe. In the thread Jan posted Press release: bbodance - celebrating boys in dance: Photoshoot casting open! it mentions the recent exhibition at Lighthouse Poole, Boys will be Boys - Masculinity on pointe. The teacher metioned, Natalie Pearl, has a boys only ballet class and is currently advertising a boys pointework class.
Pas de Quatre Posted December 11, 2021 Posted December 11, 2021 Part of me wants to celebrate the breaking down of barriers, but another part wonders whether women and girls will now ever be allowed to keep anything they can call their own! 2
Ruby Foo Posted December 11, 2021 Posted December 11, 2021 Know plenty boys who can outdo the girls en pointe. In fact some look so incredibly good I have wondered the same thing Pas de Quatre! 1
Jan McNulty Posted December 13, 2021 Author Posted December 13, 2021 Someone's obviously noticed the lack of proof reading and it looks as though the advert has now been edited to remove the reference to pointe work. 5
Canary Posted December 17, 2021 Posted December 17, 2021 I believe Wayne Sleep was the first of many professional male dancers to perform en pointe in Tales of Beatrix Potter .

Sir Frederick Ashton's The Dream pre-dates Beatrix Potter (it was premiered in 1964) and Bottom has always danced on pointe. 6
