Don Quixote in Paris

Recommended Posts

After guests from Vienna were called upon at short notice to dance three perfromances of the Nureyev Don Q at the Bastille a week or so ago, this afternoon's scheduled Basilio has been injured so cannot dance - this means that despite her pleas to the management to dance with another Basilio Mathilde Froustey (tipped by the fans as the next etoile - she ought to be too IMHO) will not after all appear as Kitri - all of which means unless there is some other schedule change this season, she may have danced her one and only performance of this role - in which she was reported to have been spectacular earlier this week - most of this news is a summary of the many postings on Twitter on the subject for those who are interested!

Thanks for the update Tim. I am going on 30/12 to the matinee and was disappointed that no etoiles were dancing (although the new year's eve triple bill promises plenty of etoiles) - but as is usual the casts change with POB right up to the last minute so you never know. Pity Frousty is "out" from the sound of it. Thanks too for the info about the Viennese dancers - I wondered who the odd names were on the "distribution" cast list.

Hot off the presses, it sounds as tho she was put on to dance this afternoon with another partner unknown to me named Alu - the tweets were most enthusiastic & appreciative

You are right about last minute changes specially this time of year - as long as Eurostar don't fail as well!! Hope you enjoy your visit and tell us who you saw

I think I read that he was guesting somewhere but infuriatingly I cannot now remember where or what as hmmm! Btw, has anyone read or heard of the reason Zakharova's scheduled performances were "re-cast"? Have POB made any explanatory announcements on the subject?
