Hi everyone, I attended today's performance and thoroughly enjoyed it.  More of that later, but if you are going tomorrow - take large hat, sunscreen and plenty of water.  It's extremely hot.  Also, don't trust your SatNav. Go back to the tried and trusted, good old fashioned maps.

Good advice. The dancers must have been very exposed in the sun.

But did the hats in the audience affect views of the stage?

Hats didn't really affect the view.  However, the seating area was flat, so no rake - that affected the view far more.  We were in row P, so not much chance of seeing the dancers feet at all times.

A second reminder to members (having mentioned this yesterday) that you must have the copyright holder’s permission to share their work; this includes pictures that they themselves may have shared on Instagram. However, a link to a photograph on Instragram may be posted here.

We reserve the right to take action against members who continue to breach this.

We went yesterday - on the plus side the weather was glorious, ditto the setting, and the dancers and musicians seemed to be having a great time. On the minus side, we arrived at 12.00 on the dot, having been told that seating would be allocated on arrival from 12.00. We were given seats in what we were told was the third row (despite apparently being first in line). When we went to the seats shortly before the 3.00 start we found they were in the 8th row - five rows of more comfy seats were in front of the stage. I queried what the arrangement was, and was told that they were more expensive seats for VIPs. None of us can recall being given the opportunity to buy "more expensive seats" (it seemed to be a flat rate of £85.00) and we were not ecstactic to be told that we were NOT Very Important People. So a bit of a sour note there. Once the performance started, it transpired that because of NO rake, a low stage (2 feet high) and the many very necessary hats in front, we could see just the dancers' heads (and in Reece Clarke's case his shoulders as well) and the occasional flash of torso between the hats. After a three hour journey (and £85.00 each - yes, it was in a very good cause, but still £85.00....) this was so very disappointing.

Anna Rose O'Sullivan has just posted some pics including one that gives a hint of the audience view...even stood up and standing in the middle of the aisle seeing anything below the knee was a problem for the photographer

Because of the sight line problems highlighted above by Simon, my friend Fiona and I stood to one side, out of anyone’s way, and therefore had a perfect view !

Pretty poor that at those prices you had to stand in that heat just to see!

I spoke to the owner and his son after the show. I politely suggested to them that if this event is repeated then a much higher stage is required. But it probably wasn’t up to them. The organiser should have probably sorted this out ?

We’re all the tickets sold?

It was pretty full. They gave everyone water at regular intervals, put in extra breaks for this, gave out free ice-creams in the 2nd half , were very considerate really…

The president of the organizer, Muse A Muse, is listed as Johanna Adams Farley, Senior Stage Manager at the ROH, who should know how to organize a show. Perhaps that was the best they could do with the time and space they had?  Still, agree with @Sim above - that's a lot of money for a standing ticket.

I’m not complaining.. I didn’t mind standing after a long drive up there. The location was stunning and the dancing glorious. I like to find the positives in life! Certainly agree that a higher stage would have been far better, perhaps it wasn’t possible in the circumstances. The stage at Athelhampton was higher and I still chose to stand there !!

No one has contacted me personally (the norm in other groups) so I am guessing (??) that it’s my posting of @dancersdiary lovely photo of Aurora and her 4 princes …. duly credited twice,  that has been removed twice.

Perhaps someone could explain to me why photos from IG posts do no longer embed in this forum?

IG has not embedded properly in this forum for some time - only the link shows.

Your first post did not credit the photographer, which I queried before the post was ultimately hidden.

The Moderators pointed out that links that take you to the IG post are allowed but not a copy of the photograph.
