LinMM Posted June 12, 2021 Share Posted June 12, 2021 I mainly did ballet there too but with Roger Tully and was it John O Brian 🤔 and a Sunday class with Brian Loftus I think his name was .....it was such an age ago....but who had a very witty and funny pianist!! I think I saw Arlene’s class through the window one day and thought I’d have a go and she seemed really nice as well. I used to founder around at the back mostly lol! It is also her voice that you currently hear as the Marquise in Dangerous Liaisons and … she’s a Scouser! Download images for press use Former Northern Ballet Premier Dancer Samantha Pippa Moore (stage name Pippa Moore) has received an MBE for services to dance in Her Majesty The Queen’s Birthday Honours list announced Saturday 12 June 2021. Joining Northern Ballet as part of the corps de ballet in 1996, Pippa progressed through the ranks to Premier Dancer in 2009. Renowned for her technical skill and talents as an actress, Pippa gavepowerful and memorable performances, creating many roles in some of Northern Ballet's most popular original ballet including: Young Cathy in Wuthering Heights; Wendy in Peter Pan; Clara in The Nutcracker; Stepmother in Cinderella; and Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream for which the was nominated for Outstanding Female Artist (Classical) at the 2004 Critics' Circle National Dance Awards. After an incredible 23 years with Northern Ballet, Pippa retired from the stage in June 2019 after creating her final role, Older Princess Beatrice in Cathy Marston's Victoria which was broadcast on the BBC and in cinemas nationwide and wind the South Bank Sky Arts Award for Dance in 2020. (And no doubt others). I too attended those in the 80s/90s. Cyril Addison was the brother of Errol. Cyril was head of music at RBS and used to play for Errol's classes during school holidays. He was a real joy. The Dance Centre closed in the late 1970s and became The Sanctuary health spa. It was the end of an era!
