mart Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 Samira Saidi is stepping down from her position as Head of Intensive courses& International Relations Samira successfully built up the intensive courses and created the on line courses . i’m sure the RBS will miss her she also did a great job at ENBS before being replaced by the disastrous Carlos Valcarcel wishing her all the best in her new ventures
Jan McNulty Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 Best wishes to Samira Saidi for the future. Not that it's got anything to do with the price of fish but I saw a BRB big tent performance in the late 80s in Lancaster. It was a performance of Giselle with Samira Saidi and Kevin O'Hare and was the first performance I saw where I sobbed out loud. I've never forgotten that performance! 6
Dance.Mum Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 Is Iain Mackay taking over from Samira Saudi? It mentioned the International Relations aspect in the notification but not the Intensive Courses. Is this a new job? It didn’t say he was her replacement. I know she is still there so is she staying on now but getting assistance.
amos73 Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 No Samira Saidi has left now I believe. The school posted about it on their website last month I think

Surely she can’t do both? 1
Ballet Power Posted November 13, 2021 Posted November 13, 2021 Emma northmore has a team working with her at ballet boost so I guess she could do both.
Pas de Quatre Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 I guess it depends on whether RBS perceive a conflict of interest. New RBS Associate teachers aren't allowed to keep their own school but can do freelance activities such as one off master classes and adjudicate festivals.
Ballet Power Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 That’s interesting as lots of current associate teacher have their own school.

Peanut68 Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 (edited) I’d say anyone teaching Associates would need to have either their own school or many other teaching assignments/jobs to make enough income. But if a full time employee of RBS? I’d expect any additional work would need to be with RBS permissions & presumably non conflicting/non financially benefiting from RBS association (but of course it would help immensely in getting gigs for teaching/coaching/ adjudicating/mentoring etc etc…) Just I guess like I’m any career…. Thinking MP’s….?🤔 Edited November 14, 2021 by Peanut68 Correct predictive text! 1

Legseleven Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 As does Caroline Wright, whose Centre Pointe school was also used as the Manchester RBS Associates’ base. 1
AllAboutTheJourney Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 Many of the associates teachers have their own schools - ours certainly does. 1
junedancer Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 At least one Associates teacher teachers at another upper school and one with her own school teaches JAs and Ballet Boost (or at one time did). They are all ballet teachers and making a living as such. You couldn’t make a living in a few hours of Royal Associates teaching a week. 2
AlwaysBallet Posted December 1, 2021 Posted December 1, 2021 (edited) Good luck to Samira! She has done a wonderful job. Emma was removed from the Ballet Boost website in Aug and is now solely working for the Royal Ballet School. There is a new leadership team I think - Monique in admin, Leanne Cope/James Butcher and Sarah Kundi are leadership. I think she set this up when her mum passed away so it has actually been like this a while, with Leanne and James in charge, so everything was sorted quite a long time ago.
