patsomerset
Thank you for posting the link to the clip John. I watched it while I was having my lunch and just the sight of Carlos's smiling face and warm personality cheered me up on what is a very, very wet soggy day here in the West Country. Lovely to see him dancing a piece from one of my favourite ballets, as he says, just big, joyful dancing Edited November 21, 2012 by patsomerset
Ann Williams
Thank you for that, John. Must say, Carlos looked in excellent form (despite his advancing years!) and I was pleased to hear the hugely appreciative audience reaction, given that it wasn't a specialist ballet audience. Anyway, a pox on Sky Arts - I'm still not going to take the Murdoch Shilling!
gillm
Luckily I have a friend with Sky Arts so invited myself round to watch. Carlos is a very engaging interviewee and of course Parky is a great host. They talked about his background and career, also the project he is trying to get off the ground in Cuba which he is obviously very passionate about. Dancewise we had the Don Q, the Princess Stefanie pdd from Mayerling with Roberta Marquez, and some modern solo thing (Memoria)- I surprised myself by enjoying the last piece. Oh to have been in the audience!! My friend has never seen Carlos and is not into ballet however she found it fascinating. "Interesting and articulate speaker". "Makes the dancing look easy". She was quite amazed that a ballet dancer might come from a poor background. I doubt I will ever get her to the ballet but my chances of seeing more Sky Arts programmes at hers are high!!.
