Anyway a delightful performance with their famous bear. Thanks, Naomi M. That’s what I thought...not the complete work. Almost all US ballet troupes offering digital Nutcrackers are offering only condensed versions (“A Nutcracker Experience”). They’re not giving away the whole candy shop, so to speak, whether for free or for a fee. It’s their most treasured commodity, after all. It’s a rarity for a US troupe to offer an entire digital Nutcracker. I know only of two, both with the Balanchine: Pacific NW Ballet and NYCB. I’ve opted for Pacific NW to see the newer designs. Too complex if it involves fees with multiple options, sorry!
Jeannette
I realize that there are many COVID-era shortened Nutcrackers and other family-friendly films out there. I’ll just share one from The Washington Ballet that features an especially wondrous, traditional Sugar Plum Fairy solo by their leading ballerina Katherine Barkman (at the 24-minute mark)...and doesn’t she have a bit of a “Fonteyn Vibe” to her look? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PU7FX3NjIuo

Have any of the companies been doing their live broadcasts in this style rather than a wide shot of the stage? I’m not really a fan of ballet on the small screen but needs must and there are now so many Nutcrackers to choose from! I’ve seen RB and NYCB live. Wasn’t that keen on the NYCB production. Would anyone like to make a recommendation?

Odyssey
Yes, BRB . Just hoping it films well. I have the DVD and much of the first act is quite dark including the wonderful transformation scene, but it was recorded quite a few year’s ago.

I thought BRB's production looked impressive when I saw it live at the Birmingham Hippodrome last year but today Samara Downs posted a photo on Instagram of the Act 1 set in the Birmingham Rep & it looks less impressive than I remember so I'm wondering if they've had to downsize it, given the Rep is smaller than the Hippodrome. https://www.instagram.com/p/CI0ifDGgbwQ/
Odyssey
I guess it will have to be scaled down but the comment says “setting up” as in , a work in progress. Remember that the wonder of BRB’s transformation scene isn’t reliant on the size of the tree ( without giving too much away)
