Oh good, thanks for the notification, Amelia.  I frequently lose track of the Bolshoi ones, because they're up for so short a time.

Thanks Amelia, I loved this last summer but I'd forgotten just how good it is - pure joy! Might have to try and watch a second time before the 24 hours is up :)

I was looking forward to Bright Stream as I hadn't seen it the last time the Bolshoi were in London and it was well reviewed here. I was not disappointed I found it fun and light, just what I needed today. (by contrast not the way Stalin reacted to this ballet). It is the second Alexei Ratmansky ballet I have seen, the first being Cinderella and something about it reminded me of it. Also having the programme from the Bolshoi visit I am able to read their articles on the ballet, All round feeling good.

What a gem this ballet is. it really lifts the spirits.
Seeing the stream reminded me of the Bolshoi visit to ROH last summer- such happy memories.

The stream’s casting was spot on - Lunkina so lyrical and Alexandrova so funny in the cross dressing. But the honours go to the men here - dancing on pointe, was it a sylph or Giselle parody? Was it Staskevitch as the school girl?

Sylph, I think.  And no, it was a dancer whose name I didn't recognise.  It was the 2013 broadcast - I think there may have been another one since?

Yes I saw this at the cinema in 2016. I think the schoolgirl was Xenia Pchelkina (Ksenia Pehelkina?) if the character’s name is Gala.
