FionaM Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 It’s been confirmed by Muscovites that all backstage/technical crew were tested before this concert of which around 30 tested positive and were not able to participate. Crew wore masks and gloves (on and off stage) and performers also (backstage). Sergei Polunin performed his solo ‘Take Me To Church’ and Svetlana Zakharova performed a solo to the theme from Schindler’s List. No other dancers participated. The other performers were almost all solo singers, musicians or actors. There were 2 or 3 duets, violin or cello accompanied by piano, at social distance. There was no audience in the theatre. I know all this because I watched it live. For those who don’t know, this concert ‘We Together’ was arranged by Russia TV1 as a tribute to medical staff. So it seems to me that The Daily Mail have picked up this story from The Moscow Times, misunderstood and twisted it, and then (!) have grabbed Sergei Polunin’s own Instagram message and included that as though they had interviewed him. Sloppy lazy journalism. Why am I not surprised. The recorded concert will be broadcast again on tv channel ‘Russia Culture’ on Sunday 19th April at 19.50 Moscow time. 3

Sloppy lazy journalism. Why am I not surprised. Because it seems to be standard practice to copy comments off people's Twitter accounts etc. these days and quote them as if the person had actually said it? Even the "quality" press stoop to it now, rather than, heaven forbid, actually contacting people for a quote It can make the person quoted seem quite insensitive if the subject is a potentially painful one.
Stevie Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 I just hope they are all alright at the Bolshoi, with no further spread and no serious symptoms. Hope it's just a case of Daily Mail distortion, to make bad news more dramatic than it already is.

If you read the Moscow times report posted above ... it’s not dancers but technical / backstage crew that were found to be positive.
