HopelessMummy
My DD is starting to develop and the leotards she has are fairly unforgiving. Can anyone please recommend leotards that are sufficiently lined in the chest area to prevent embarrassment?
Anon2
Wear Moi are mostly from lined and come in a huge variation of styles
Anna C
An alternative to a lined leotard if your dd has to wear an unlined/revealing uniform leotard is a seamless dance bra, worn underneath: https://uk.blochworld.com/products/ladies-luelle-shaped-double-layer-bra-nude
alison
HopelessMummy, I've tagged this thread with "underwear". Click on that tag, and it may bring up some useful alternative threads.
MrsMoo2
My daughter had an underwear leotard thingy, basically another layer, skin colour. Gave her a bit more confidence. xx
Peony
Could she wear a ladies XS? Pretty much all the big brands have at least a shelf liner in. Or a tank style with bra/ crop top underneath? Dark colours are much more forgiving too
Ruby Foo
Capezio used to make some thick cotton leotards with bra lining. Much more supportive than the thin Lycra and more flattering without any shine.
Streetdancer
DD1 has found that ruching helps as well as a shelf lining - if it's allowed as part of uniform. DD2 for G2 has to wear an awful unlined, unshaped lilac leo but at G3 it changes to one with some ruching and the difference is remarkable. HowMuch!
I definitely recommend both ruching and capezio. My DD has the capezio cc101(?) and its really thick and lined. Very flattering line and quite firm so it will hold everything in - my DD hasn’t got to that stage yet but I can see it being a good leotard. So much nicer than her RAD tank she has to wear for exams! My DD found the double stitching in shelf lined tank leotards a bit itchy and she’s a fidget so we’re going to avoid those. HopelessMummy
Thank you everyone. Those dratted exam uniform leotards are the worst! Looks like I need to go shopping with DD. Great tips re. ruching!
HowMuch!
If the exams are RAD then they’re not supposed to mark down for uniform. My DD wore ruched for exams.
Horsellian
Our ballet school have recently moved over to ruched leotards for exam uniform for grades 4+; they're RAD approved ones with the logo.
