FionaE 256 Posted November 18 (edited) I’m interested in the casting of Bluebird pdd. So far I’ve heard of: Sambe, Hayward Corrales, Magri Sissens, O’Sullivan There must be others? Edited November 18 by FionaE Clarification

I think there has also been: Sambe, O’Sullivan Corrales, Hamilton Hay, Hinkis sadly I’m beginning to think Hayward won’t dance any more performances (she only did opening night) as Sambe recently danced with O’Sullivan, and now Hayward is coming to the end of her beauty run and moving onto Coppelia! I’m hoping to see Sambe/Corrales/Magri still. O’Sullivan and Sissens were wonderful.

Doesn’t seem very many when you consider that all bar Sissens have principal roles to prepare for in SB and/or Coppélia. so am I right in thinking that Joe Sissens is the only one who is neither a first soloist or principal? How exciting for him. Also, is William Bracewell not back to performing yet?

Will this be confirmed closer to the time - i.e. do ROH tend to release a more detailed cast list in advance of cinema relays? Or not? The cinema relay is pretty late into the run and I think I will have seen most casts by then, so I don't think I'll go unless I can be certain particular dancers will be performing (e.g. Hayward!). Coated 1,574 Posted November 19 I've just read the Guardian review and it's hilariously bonkers. I'll be watching out for Naghdi's punchy high kicks next time I tune in for some kung-fu fighting. Or was it ballet?

Online they look the same (they are now essentially the same operation) but they still have separate reviewers. The clumsily woke but uninformed review I read on Sunday was by someone called Bidisha, who I see is known for “specialising in international affairs, social justice issues” as well as “culture”. (Whose Instagram account is this on, please Clara_f? It hasn't appeared in my feed.) It is their last performance and I am gutted as I was so looking forward to it. Kicking myself I didn’t book an earlier performance/pick up another ticket but you can’t predict these things. I saw it on Yasmine Naghdi’s Instagram story. Very frustrated that ROH haven’t sent an email! I am also selling my ticket - I’ve already seen Naghdi/Campbell in the Takada injury debacle and have booked to see Naghdi/Ball later in the run...I’m not having much luck with my Auroras! 😞

JNC 784 Posted November 19 I see now the website has been updated with Naghdi as replacement Aurora https://www.roh.org.uk/tickets-and-events/the-sleeping-beauty-by-marius-petipa-dates If they can do this why no email? If anything surely the email to ticket holders should be prioritised? I hope Hayward has an illness free Aurora next run, can’t believe the bad luck! And I really hope she is able to do the first night of Coppelia next week!
JNC 784 Posted November 19 Also I just had a thought - I’d love Takada to be able to dance Saturday but if not and if Hayward is well I wonder if we can get a final Hayward/Campbell performance?
Coated 1,574 Posted November 19 @Geoff Yes, it was the Observer, not Guardian - keep losing track when reading online I've still got quite a few Beauties to see, though it'll take a lot to beat the joys of the Naghdi/Ball and Kaneko/Clarke pairing, both marvellous for different reasons. I'm also very impressed with Mayara Magri this season. I don't know what she did over the summer, or what other magics are at work, but for me she has gone from someone with both promise and some not-so-promising touches to a consistenly excellent performer on her way to becoming a fully developed artist. She's been a real joy to watch and has added class to every role she has danced in SB.

To be honest I presumed I wouldn’t get one because it was so late in the day - but then I saw the change online. I guess it’s better than nothing/neither but I feel if they were only going to do one thing I would have preferred an email to go out to ticket holders as opposed to a website change (for a practically sold out performance two hours before start time - aside from ticket holders checking for confirmation which would be more directly done via an email, I’m not sure who this information would benefit). Others may disagree though!
