Auditioning externally for other vocational lower schools

Recommended Posts

DC is currently attending a vocational lower school funded by an MDS award. They would like to audition for another vocational school this year but we are not sure of the etiquette/rules around this. Surely the 4 MDS schools are aware this happens as children move around so is it a case of we are open and honest with the school about the intention to audition elsewhere? DC is very happy at the current school but wishes to continue auditioning at the school they would be looking at for upper school in a few years. Does anyone have any experience/advice about this.

Thank you.

I have heard of vocational schools letting the current school know that a student has auditioned, so not saying anything could be risky as they might hear from elsewhere. If you tell them yourself, it gives you the chance to clarify that they are happy where they are.

Thank you, it really is a grey area isn't it.🤔

I think we'll approach DC's current school and ask for permission explaining why they want to audition elsewhere, see what they say and hope for the best!

If your DC is happy at their current school would they take up an offer (assuming it was with a new MDS award, if you need it) and move school or is it just that they want to be seen by the prospective school prior to auditioning for US ?  We were advised that some schools use their summer schools to seriously look at those they would be interested in and have heard of DC being asked if they would consider applying when the time came.
