Gary Avis interview

Recommended Posts

But seriously?  "Now, aged 49, Avis is one of the oldest performers in the company, and probably the oldest performing man in ballet."

You what???  Just because Freddie Franklin's no longer with us ...

This is the second interview with Gary in the Telegraph within 6 months*.  If he's not careful, he'll be giving Darcey a run for her money :D

* The other one being here https://www.telegraph.co.uk/dance/ballet/gary-avis-interview-could-bottle-feeling-curtain-goes/ in case anyone's interested.

I boggled at that sentence too. I mean even just among the RB character artists Saunders is definitely older & Marriott about the same age. I'm sure plenty of other ballet companies must also have character artists who are 50+.
