A few years ago, for a performance celebrating the Shakespeare 400 hundredth year since his death (I think) Naghdi and Ball danced the MacMillan R and J pas de deux and it looked slightly cramped. The new thrust stage is longer and narrower than the old proscenium stage. I have seen productions with dance in them and they've been fine, but don't think it would be suitable for full scale ballet. Also, quite a number of the audience would be treated to nothing but back views of the dancers!

Lots of dancing in the video I posted by Johan above.  Good to see clips of Nikolas Gaifullin as Tybalt.  He is a talent and only 23. Impressive stage presence and technique.

I was also impressed by the intense drama conveyed by Lord and Lady Capulet in the final scene.  See Jann Esterhuizen and Ross Freddie-Ray McCaw in full here ....

There is a nicely illustrated review in the current issue of Dance Europe, with the final sentence suggesting there are rumours of future performances in the Royal Albert Hall and - Moscow's Red Square!!

So in the latter venue we'd probably have 2 Putins...

There would presumably have to be quite significant revisions to the production if it were to be done in the round. I haven't so far been tempted to the RAH for ballet, partly because the seats are so expensive even when you're very far away. If this came, I'd have to consider my options!
