tutugirl Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 I wondered if anyone off the forum is entering this competition , or going to watch it ? I haven’t seen much publicity about this event .
tutugirl Posted May 22, 2019 Author Posted May 22, 2019 Oh lovely ! I wish them all the best. Which group are they in? Have you far to travel ?
FlexyNexy Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 Never heard of this event, unless it is F1 race. Shame it is not publicised more.
Mummy twinkle toes Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 1 is in the under 12s and the rest are in 12-14. It is around 2.5 hours for us but travel near there anyway for associates. Not much advertising about the event in Hinckley. 1

Pas de Quatre Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 It is new this year, but supported by some major UK Vocational schools and others from abroad. British Ballet Grand Prix website
Dancing Kitty Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 As you say it has not been well advertised other than on Facebook. Plenty of tickets still available to watch the finals but not too surprising as their web page doesn't even appear to mention that you can view and how to get tickets!

It's also publicised on Instagram although it's a relatively new account (launched February) and "only" has just over 3,500 followers so far. As SissoneDoublee says, there are some fairly eminent schools supporting it this year so I guess we'll see where it goes from here.

Hope your DD is feeling better. Yes, we will be watching at 7pm. We know one senior girl through, 3 inters and a junior. Everyone did well but is a competition and so that is the way it goes. Took Dd1 to watch Aladdin as consolation and that took her mind off of it.🤗
HopelessMummy Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 Best of luck. Kinda sucks for the juniors when there were only 15 dancing and 10 got through but we're looking forward to watching the finals. We are armed with Colin caterpillars
Balletforever Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 Went to watch the finals last night..out of curiosity just wondering if anybody knew how much it was to enter this competition?
HopelessMummy Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 £145 for juniors and intermediates. £195 for advanced. £150 per couple for Pas DD. £25 per dancer for ensemble. Thought finals were amazing. Standard was very high

Dancermum2003 Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 Can I ask a question that I hope isn’t controversial?? How can Judges adjudicate over their own pupils? I notice one if the winners attends a school that one of the Judges is Artistic Director of. I’m genuinely interested. 4

Jan McNulty Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 Yes, it's part of the AUP that it must be official lists that are used.
Mummy twinkle toes Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 They have posted pictures but no names. The majority of winners attend BTUK, Tring and Ballet West lower school.
