Clairepap Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 My 16 years old daughter is tiny.. she’s a size 4 but has an F cup bust. She does vocational ballet, ballet, tap, modern, contemporary and national. She really struggles to find supportive Dancewear and cannot wear a bra that can be seen. Her teachers also prefer high leg leotards. She could wear a S or Xs leotard but her chest does not fit in I am having to buy an M and gave it taken in and even that does not support her bust . Can anyone suggest a leotard that isn’t low leg that would support her? She can wear black for some lessons but is required to wear pink/raspberry / fuschia for vocational work 1
Dancing unicorn Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 Can she wear a flesh coloured ‘body’ under her leotards or a flesh colour dance bra?? I’ve allowed this with my bigger busted girls! You can get them from any good dancewear shop or online! X
Jan McNulty Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 Hello Clairepap and welcome to the Forum! I've moved your query to the main Doing Dance forum. 1
Clairepap Posted April 5, 2019 Author Posted April 5, 2019 She has a flesh body but that has the same issue; she has a flesh bra but this comes too high up above her leotard 1
Ruby Foo Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 Have you tried John Lewis? They have a good selection of bras for bridal dresses which are designed not to show but also offer more support than a dance bra. A thick cotton leotard with bra support would be more suitable than thin Lycra. Would you be able to sew something into her leotard?
Ruby Foo Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 Another suggestion would be to call Dancing Boutique in Tunbridge Wells or Just Ballet for ideas. Both very helpful.
DancingShoes Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 You can get leotards with a proper built-in bra. I think it's capezio that make them, they're quite supportive.
FullContretemps Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 The Bra-Tek from Capezio are useless if your bust measurement is even slightly disproportionately larger than rest of torso! (Unless I also have an unusually long torso which I suppose could be the case ) Good luck - it is a nightmare situation. Currently I can just about get away with nude dance bras if I buy carefully and buy the leotards carefully although they do show sometimes. But for under costumes I've actually gone to M&S and got regular multiway bras before as they tend not to come up too high in front or at the back and of course support without straps. Before my last show I went in complete with tutu and catsuit stashed in bag and took about 10 to try on 🤣
Moomin Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 If she’s got a bust I don’t think any sort of dance bra/ leotard/ body will support adequately. If it’s for a performance/ exam then these are adequate as a one off but for regular class she’s going to need a proper bra. Do the school restrict leotard styles? There are many tank and sleeved styles that will hide a bra and maybe even a wider strap camisole. If her bra is too high at the front could she get a 3/4 cup style or shorten the leotard straps? If the school are dictating one style of leotard which won’t work with any type of bra they really cant complain...
alison Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Hi, Clairepap! You might get some help from this thread: Alternatively, try clicking on the "underwear" tag at the top of this post, and see if it comes up with anything useful.
