Ian Macmillan
Anticipating tomorrow's Links, many here may be interested to read how the School of American Ballet, the New York City Ballet's school, finds its teachers from its active company dancers. I'm not aware of that happening to any similar extent over here: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/30/arts/dance/school-of-american-ballet-enlists-city-ballet-members.html
GTL
Does the Royal Ballet School do something similar? I remember reading years ago on the old BalletCo forum that some of the soloists were training as teachers: I can recall only two of the names, Jose Martin and Yohei Sasaki, both still dancing at that time. Anjuli_Bai
I think that asking dancers to teach while still actively dancing is a good idea. But I don't agree that a dancer who waits to teach or decides to teach upon retiring from the stage is "too late."
sophika9899
Yes, I agree with you, Anjuli, too late for what, exactly?
