The full report on the talk by Brandon Lawrence is now online here:

https://www.tlbc.org.uk/resources/126-in-conversation-with-brandon-lawrence

Watch this space for news of upcoming guests!!!!

The irony of having an empty diary and then all of a sudden something cropped up that I could not get out of meant that I was unable to attend Brandon's talk.

Thank you so much for publishing the notes from the talk, I've really enjoyed reading them.

Along with his recent Open Barre podcasts this proves that Brandon is one of the brightest stars in the ballet firmament both on and off the stage.

  • 1 month later...

The LBC’s terrific line-up of guests for the In Conversation evenings on Zoom continues next Wednesday, 30th September at 7.00pm with Erina Takahashi, Lead Principal of English National Ballet, and her husband James Streeter, First Soloist of English National Ballet.

Both James and Erina trained at the ENB School. Erina has danced with ENB for 24 years, 20 of them as a Principal. James is, perhaps, best known for his character roles and as Albrecht in Akram Khan’s Giselle. Together, they led the ground-breaking performance of  Dust (also by Akram Khan) on The Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury. The links to their biographies on the ENB website are below.

In addition:

  • Erina has recently been recognised with a nomination in the Arts and Culture category of the Asian Women of Achievement Awards. The ceremony is on the 28th September; and
  • only this week, as part ENB’s new Dance Leaders of the Future Programme, James produced the highly successful 2020 Emerging Dancer event, which was live-streamed on Tuesday from the Production Studio in the company’s City Island headquarters.

Gerald Dowler, the dance writer and critic who has often interviewed for the LBC, will be the host in what promises to be an illuminating conversation.

Please note that, owing to a change in ENB's filming schedule, Erina Takahashi and James Streeter will now be "in Conversation" at the later time of 8.00pm on Wednesday, 30th September.

The Zoom link remains the same, LBC members are being notified individually and the notice on the screen when people 'arrive' will give the correct time.

Just to remind everyone that reports from the "In Conversation" series are usually available on the LBC's website shortly after the event. Go to https://tlbc.org.uk  Reports  to find, for example, the one for Anna Rose O'Sullivan who was the LBC's guest on the 13th October.

Too late to edit this but the correct address for LBC reports is: https://www.tlbc.org.uk/pages/28-reports

[The editing time now seems to be less than 25 minutes. I think that it used to be 30 minutes?]

It should still be 30 minutes, as far as I know.  Could be that your original timestamp is inaccurate, which is something I find happens occasionally, e.g. the site will still claim you posted "just now/2 mins ago" when it's actually 5 or more minutes ago.

Ooh.  Does the fact that Adam's in Munich indicate that there might be ... theatrical events going on somewhere?  Or going to go on in the near future?

Maybe Adam has been affected by the latest restrictions in Bavaria. But the beauty of Zoom is that conversation events can take place from anywhere in the world.

The LBC's guest on the 12th January will now be David Nixon OBE, Artistic Director of Northern Ballet who is in his 20th year at the head of the Company. He will be talking with Dame Monica Mason.

The change is due to the wifi problems being experienced by Henry Danton. He himself is safe and well in the USA and the LBC hopes that he will be able to Zoom with Dame Monica in a few months' time.

Non members wishing to 'attend' may request the link from info@tlbc.org.uk - but no later than midnight (UK time) on the 11th January, please. The LBC will be in direct touch with forum members who requested the link for Henry.
