balletbean
Hi all, Having been a member of this forum for a couple of years and having gained so much knowledge throughout that time, enabling my DD to be offered places at several SS's and successfully nailed her very first audition for her first choice vocational school. I just thought I would take the opportunity as the summer holidays draw to a close, to pass on my GOOD LUCK & BEST WISHES to all the other teens who have survived GCSE season/results day as well as the all important Ballet exams and now will also shortly be heading off to Vocational Upper School. Pastures new and exciting times ahead for all. 😍 xxx Edited August 30, 2018 by balletbean

I shall keep posting and replying but maybe not so frequently. Just felt the moment was right as my DD is going through the farewell stage with Family and friends. Suitcases are out but nowhere to leave them open to fill. And the to do lists are increasing not decreasing!!! One more ballet exam results await and we will finally be ready 🤞🏼🙆♀️ 😊 Edited August 30, 2018 by balletbean

Just a tad frustrating. Heading off to NBS. 🙆♀️😊 Edited August 31, 2018 by balletbean

Miracle
Northern Ballet School is a fantastic vocational school my DD has a contract on finishing graduate year so do at least 10 of her year. It is great when they go straight into work. The Principal certainly gets them industry ready.x

I am a relatively quiet member of this forum but have found it to be invaluable when we embarked upon the audition season last year for the first time and thankfully for the last (well until job auditions commence but that is now a few years away). My daughter is also making list after list, we have been on the big move out shop this week and are picking up the bulk of the uniform on Sunday (Not leo's as they are made by a specialist via the school). I am so excited for my DD but I am very apprehensive at the same time. 16 is such a young age to move hundreds of miles away but like they say you have to let them live their dream. I wish your daughter all the best, northern ballet isn't far from me. I am sure we will all sink a glass or 2 of wine the weekend they move just to get through it

Fly(may)be is not renowned for its generous baggage allowance! BlueLou
Dd and I arrived in the Richmond Travelodge a couple of hours ago. Spent £80 in Boots on ‘essentials’ already. Covent Garden dance shops tomorrow 😱. Sunday, moving into Homestay - and no doubt more shopping - we have lots of lists too! Sorting bank account and doctors on Monday. Rambert on Tuesday!

The Travelodge is more centrally located than the Premier Inn - it’s only a couple of minutes walk into Richmond. The earlier you book the cheaper it is, and it can make quite a big difference! Vonrothbart
I reckon there will be no end of DC's parents dashing around with last minute preps etc, before their children semi fledge the nest so to speak. We are having a get together tonight, to celebrate my granddaughter's 16th birthday, along with both her and her good friend, who also goes to VS in a week or so. I suggested buying train tickets to London, the week after they go, just to take all the things that will be forgotten, as I'm sure there will be a few. Fiz
My dd is rather older than these fledglings but she is finally moving out today to share a house with a good friend she has known for many years. She’s left home before for university which didn’t work out for various reasons and when she moved to the Midlands but now it looks like it for good. I’m going to be busy today and sad tonight.

Sending empathy to everyone who will have unnaturally quiet homes this term as their children have all gone away. I have decided to make a list of all the things that I have never had time to do (apart from dull things like dusting) and am steeling myself to take up piano lessons. I am assured by friends who have done this before that a) I will get used to it and b) they never really leave you

DDPA
Wishing you all the very best of luck - those moving on to vocational school and the parents left behind! I feel emotional for you all - my daughter will be going next year if she has her way. So young to leave home at sixteen, I know that we must let our dd follow their dreams! This forum has helped me so much - grateful for all the advice given.
