suzysue
Dd has got new pointe shoes, the ribbons they have come with only just go around her ankles if she puts them under her heels to sew. This is the only way we have ever sewn ribbons, do they have to go under her foot or can she cut them into two halves and have a bit of extra ribbon length? 2dancersmum
We've never had the ribbons going under the foot - we've always cut them and stitched them in - just make sure you fold the cut end under when you stitch so it does not fray
Stellar
They don’t have to go under the foot you can cut them and sew like normal ballet shoes
Clarkd3
My dd has always sewn ribbons the Grisko way i.e. under the heel and needs to make sure she buys extra long ribbon to do this! She has a Facebook page for darning and ribbon sewing and most shoes she gets asked to sew haven't got long enough ribbon so she sews them from the sides and says she's had no complaints!

Legseleven
Most dancers seem to cut the ribbons rather than have them going under the foot. DD prefers to have her ribbons going under the foot for extra security.
