Families can enjoy a magical new production for children from 2Faced Dance Company, whilst DeNada Dance Theatre, Motionhouse and Richard Chappell Dance bring a varied and compellingprogramme of new dance to the city. 2Faced Dance Company returns to Leeds with What The Moon Saw during the Easter holidays from 4 – 7 April 2018. Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s enchanting story, this family show combines dance and circus to tell the magical tale of Jack and his night time adventures with The Moon. Designed to be short, charming and interactive, this is a perfect production for little ones and their families to enjoy together. On 14 April 2018 DeNada Dance Theatre presents a powerful evening of dance in TORO – Beauty and the Bull. Nominated for Best Independent Company at the National Dance Awards 2016, DeNada have raged onto the UK dance scene with unique and sensual productions. This darkly comic and innovative take on the Beauty and the Beast fairytaleis no exception. Set in a dystopian South America, this production contains scenes of a strong sexual nature and deals boldly with themes of eroticism and dark humour. Acclaimed company Motionhouse performs new dance-circus show Charge on 4 May 2018. Combining dance, acrobatics and digital projections, this multi-media production is inspired by the incredible role of electricity in the human body. Guaranteed to exhilarate and thrill, Charge is an electrifying fusion of art and science brought together onto onestage. On 6 June 2018 Richard Chappell Dance presents At the end we begin, their debut performance at the theatre. This dynamic programme takes inspiration from T.S. Eliot’s classic poetry series Four Quartets, exhibiting a blend of classical ballet, martial arts and improvisation to display four emotionally fuelled quartets of dance, all accompanied by a new score of cello, piano and electronics. In addition, Northern Ballet and Partners will host Expressions on 11 and 12 July 2018. This platform showcases dance from inclusive professional and community groups, and this year will welcome record-breaking company Casson & Friends alongside exciting work from groups across the UK and beyond. The season will also host performances from graduate dance companies Encore Dance Company and Ballet Central on 26 and 29 April 2018 respectively, showcasing the rising stars of dance in works by world-renowned choreographers.
