alison
Recently arrived in my inbox: Help us create a new masterpiece New work by William Forsythe commissioned for Voices of America Hello, The Big Give Christmas Challenge is here once again and this time we need your help to produce a new masterpiece. We have asked world-renowned, award-winning choreographer William Forsythe to create a new work for Voices of America at Sadler’s Wells this spring. This will be his first new piece for a British ballet company in over 20 years and we are very excited! We are asking for your help to make this new work, by donating and spreading the word. Click here to find out more. Your gift, whatever the size, will make a real difference and by donating during the Big Give Christmas Challenge (Tuesday 28 November – Tuesday 5 December) your donations will be doubled! In supporting the creation of this bold and ambitious work, you will ensure we can continue our mission to evolve the artform, by creating the classics of tomorrow. We are very grateful for all your support. https://www.ballet.org.uk/blog-detail/new-work-william-forsythe-help-us-create-new-masterpiece/?utm_source=English+National+Ballet+Mailing+List&utm_campaign=37c20a8ae4-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2017_11_20&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_b48d18e25c-37c20a8ae4-128350585
li tai po
Is it appropriate to seek further charitable donations, when the charity is paying such a large remuneration to its artistic director? The trustees should reflect.
Jan McNulty
As far as I am aware, The Big Give is available to all charities who choose to apply for entry into it. ENB, like all the other entrants, will have had to meet whatever the criteria for entry are.

MAB
Is there any guarantee to donors that this work, assuming enough will cough up for it, actually will be a masterpiece?

No... but we have to live in hope. Would you invest in a project where the pitch started "Help us create a new pile of poo"?

Don Q Fan
Have to remember that Ms Rojo still performs so effectively earns two salaries.

Rojo isn't the first director to double as a performer. Did Peter Schaufuss earn more than the director of the Royal Ballet when he ran the company? alison
That was 30 years ago. A lot may have changed since then. Let's not get this thread sidetracked, please.
capybara
A few days into this campaign ENB has already raised over £75,000 via the BigGive double your money site, with only £900 or so still available to be doubled.
