TUTU HELP - Top layer creased

Recommended Posts

Hi all you knowledgeable tutu ladies hope you can help.

I've bought a Capezio pink tutu skirt on knickers for my dd on line. Received it yesterday and on removing it from box and bag, the top layer stiff netting is quite creased! Firstly DH said send it back!!

But then he suggested hanging it in a steamy bathroom, but I still don't think creases will come out. Any suggestions please.

That sorted, I then plan to tack net layers together, hoop it and put top layer decoration on. Is this possible with a pre made tutu skirt base please? Will then be using it with a decorated leotard!

Suggestions much appreciated please. And thanks in advance.

You can iron tutu net, just be careful. Start at a low setting and increase temperature little by little - you don't want to melt it!

I remember also being advised to place a cotton pillowcase on top of the netting before ironing.

Don't steam it as it will start to go soft. Get spray starch and use dry iron with linen or cotton cloth (net will melt onto iron directly)

keep moving the iron rather than hold in one place.

The capezio practise tutus are nice and shouldn't really need to be tacked or hooped unless you want a flatter look?

:)

Or maybe send it back if it's arrived damaged? Once you start doing things it's too late...
