SBallerina
I'm going to stay at QAH this coming year, and I wonder if any of you have any experiences with it? Thank you
Living the Dream
My DD has been staying there for the past 3 years. PM me if you want detailed information, but it's a great place, in a fantastic area and very safe. LTD

angel
I applied in the middle of April, and got a room. When did your DD apply? We applied as soon as she was offered her place in April. How strange. Have been told we should have heard but the lady we need to speak to is in on Monday
SBallerina
You'll hopefully sort it all out! I didn't expect to hear until mid June as that is what I got told. I was quite surprised when the mail arrived! Angel - please tell me how it all goes on

Loulabelle
DD and I have been to visit Queen Alexandra House today and have put her name down for a room there. Was wondering if there was anyone else with experience of a DD living there whilst at ENBS? It seemed safe and secure, if a bit shabby and old fashioned, but a fabulous area to live in. Anyone got any advice, pointers etc?

angel
Congratulations to your DD Loulabelle. Things to consider. Most of the other young women there were music students. Obviously I don't know what the ratio will be in September but it's worth considering. Would advise to find out who else is staying there and connect. Its a bus ride from school. School hours are long. Sometimes they don't get back in time to eat. This is might seem negative. The staff were very helpful.
Loulabelle
Thanks Angel. Don't worry about negative things, I'm happy to hear that as will help in the long run. Do you know where else the ballet students tend to stay? My DD is non vocational, first time living away from home, so want her to be with the other first years if possible. She has made contact with a couple of girls as they all seem to know who each other are on the audition circuit. But we are the first ones to view QAH. angel
There were very few British girls. I understood that Queen Alex was the place to go. I know that some students found rooms in people's homes and older students flat share.
Loulabelle
It seems to be the recommended place. There seems to be very few British girls with places. I will ask the school for homestay details, but think my DD would prefer QAH, just not in her own.
angel
Yes that's right. It is safe and close to bus routes. If your DD is confident and independent, it's a great base. Wishing your DD lots of happiness and success at ENBS. If if I can be of any other help let me know. Angel.

Anyone got any advice, pointers etc? My DD lived at QAH for her 3 years at ENBS and she was very happy there. They tend to put the ENBS students on the same floor, so that they can be together to socialise, cook etc. I liked that it had someone at the desk 24 hours, so that it was very secure. The food was excellent, although not always healthy, so they have to be disciplined on what they eat. After the first year, my DD's room was upgraded, which was fantastic and I believe that they are slowly renovating all the rooms. She had the small room, which was fine, as they are not in their rooms much. The staff are very friendly and caring of all the residents too. Please send me a private message if you need to know anything else. Hope this helps. LTD
aileen
I trust that ENBS will consider where its students will live once it relocates to east London in a couple of years time.

Viviangrace
Just revisiting this thread to see if anyone can update the information regarding accommodations and ENBS? Did the school move locations and is this now a different issue for boarding? Is the Queen Alexandra House still being used for the students? We are traveling from out of the country and trying to assess the housing situation, prices, availability of food services, etc. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! alison
Someone posted on here recently that ENBS hadn't moved, but I don't know how accurate that was.

The school is staying in Hortensia Road as they have signed a new lease on the building. Although the studios are not as good as in Canning Town the environment and accommodation is far better than in the east end . i would think that Q A house will still be used . Is that staying permanently at the old premises or just another temporary delay?
