alison
Here's what may be a too-technical question for a lot of people: having been watching the Bolshoi a lot on the big screen over the last year or so, I've not infrequently been struck by the fact that their tutus often don't appear to have any boning in them. Maybe it's just totally invisible, or is boning in tutus tending to disappear these days? (I'm really talking about Classical tutus, rather than, say, modern takes on them such as in Forsythe's The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude). If so, what's replacing it? Is it simply very reinforced lycra, or what?
