Siconne50
Does anyone know if vocational schools such as elmhurst, rbs actually look at the ballet exam certificates that children have passed if they are fortunate enough to get through to final audition stage, i know some say they are not concerned about exams passed, but i am just curious! primrose
I think they would only be intersted in looking at the certificates if the student were to continue having RAD instruction at the school. They may want to verify that the child is indeed at the stage that you say they are. Usually at vocational schools the children go straight into Intermediate class regardless if you have passed or not passed previous exams. Obviously if you are further on than this grade then you would be put into that class. I dont think ballet exams have any impact when the child is auditioning as they are looking for potential. I dont think they look at certificates at all.
KathyG
Niether W/L or Elmhurst ever asked to see my DS certificates.
Pas de Quatre
As taking ballet exams is not so common in the rest of the world, and particularly in 6th form there are overseas candidates, I don't think the schools take much notice of them. For summer schools they can be a quick indicator to help in class placement.
taxi4ballet
After a recent less-than-thrilling exam mark, dd was told not to worry, because they don't look at paper, they look at the dancer!
