mumof6
may seem like a strange question but i have heard back from mds award regarding fees uniform etc heard from stardust but not heard a thing about boarding. i know my dd was a late acceptance and maybe im a bit impatient as trying to get organised which im not good at. Picturesinthefirelight
They had summer school last week but there will be no one at the actual boarding houses now. My daughter does not board but you should get some sort of parent/student guide pack with all sorts of info in. I can't remember at what stage in the process we got it. BalletAims
Send me your email I can send you student information pack. Regarding a place at boarding I would presume that your DD has been excepted if you've received the MDS conformation
Picturesinthefirelight
I would give the school a call or email (admin staff will be in over summer) & explain that you don't have the information with regards to boarding etc as your dd is a late acceptance. I guess some info was given out at the new starters day you would have missed.

BalletAims
Hello I need some advise please my DD school socks / ballet socks where's the best place to put the named label.
Picturesinthefirelight
My daughter wears opaque tights rather than school socks but she did have a couple of pairs that I used iron on lettering inside the cuff. When she wore ballet socks I just wrote on the heel with a laundry pen.
Karen
If you are sewing name tapes into the socks you could pinch them into a loop and sew the ends, leaving room for stretch.(or you could buy 10 cheap pairs and write on with laundry pen and be prepared to buy another 10 at half term!!)
Picturesinthefirelight
Marks & Spencer's school socks have a space to write a name on.
Ballet4Boyz
Hi everyone, we heard yesterday re MDS contribution and we are a "W" . Thanks very much to those amongst you who let me know via text. Sorry can't seem to reply as on hols & reception a nightmare !! ( Nice problem to have so definitely not complaining ) Just a quick question ...... does anyone know what socks the boys wear for modern/jazz/tap ....... my DS has always worn black socks for tap & bare-feet for jazz/modern .......the uniform list doesn't seem to mention anything ? Can't believe how quickly the weeks are passing, luckily my DS seems to be really looking forward to it and very excited with only a little bit of nervousness thrown in .
straceydor
My dd very nervous at the moment. I can't seem to find grey tights except for wooly ones
Quest
Straceydor, try M&S. If you do a search using 'grey opaque tights' they should come up as an option
Picturesinthefirelight
M & S only do childrens size ones up to age 13. For a ladies small try Primark.
straceydor
I did look in Primark but could only find barely black and black. but I have found that what shops stock vary in different parts of the country
Picturesinthefirelight
I'll ask dd where we got her last lot from. There is a big Primark in Chester. It might have been there. Personally I can't see why they can't wear black but that's another story.

Picturesinthefirelight
No, it's just my dd hates wooly tights as they don't fit her properly. (Small feet long legs) She started a trend at her primary school when she refused to wear them & we found opaque ones in John Lewis but they only went up to age 11-12. She thinks opaque tight look more grown up. Edited August 4, 2016 by Picturesinthefirelight
Snape
Hi, My DD and all her friends seem to mainly wear socks. She has woolly and opaque tights but has only used them a few times in winter. If boarding, sew in labels are best. Writing in them is next to useless, there is always a big pile of grey socks at the boarding house, belonging to people who don't sew them in. The only non sew labels that seem to work are the clothing tattoos from an Australian company I think they are called stuck on you. They work well on ballet socks ( but iron them on the underside ) as I caused my child great embarrassment by ironing them where they can be seen. hehe. They have to take their shoes off for assembly. Well at least she hasn't misplaced many! They keep finding their way back. I do just sew them in the top now as Karen describes. I use sew in labels for nearly everything. You can machine sew them into most things, for a permanent and fast alternative to hand sewing.
sarahw
Never thought of sewing machine - great idea!
Boogalou
I've only got dd grey socks and they are from M&S who provide a white space to write in the name, very handy! Can I ask, what TOG duvet does everyone have? are the boarding houses hot or cold?
