amos73
Just thought might be nice for parents of new students starting vocational schools to have a post to share experiences on!
amos73
Dd had induction day at yda yesterday. She loved meeting her new schoolmates, and trying on the uniform (though not the regulation full sole canvas shoes ????). It was interesting to hear from other parents of students there about the things to expect in terms of students adjusting to full time training and being organised re all the different clothing requirements for different days and classes. Oh the endless opportunities for lost possessions there will be! Particularly nice to meet current year 11s and hear about their experiences during 5 years there and their exciting upper school destinations. Think it properly hit me for the first time what a wonderful opportunity dd has to pursue her dream.
Dreamy11
So glad she enjoyed Amos and glad we got the chance to meet earlier in the year! We have ours in a few weeks, we've had no agenda as such but dd is very excited! Look forward to keeping in touch even though they will be at different schools x

My DD had such a lovely day yesterday, her only disappointment (other than the full sole regulation shoes) was that she couldn't start immediately. She has talked about nothing but YDA since we got home. It was so nice to meet the rest of their year group who all seem fantastic. From what DD said, they all got on brilliantly. She also enjoyed being able to chat informally with the current Y8s. Overall, we too feel very privileged to be taking a place at an amazing school with such high calibre teachers. It came across really clearly that each and every child will get the individual attention required to maximise their potential. DD can't wait to get started and is particularly looking forward to the pointe shoe shopping trip in September with Anna in Covent Garden!!!
