Boogalou
Can I ask, is there an opportunity to purchase uniform on the induction day?
Picturesinthefirelight
Usually yes (though it may be a question of trying sample sizes & ordering)
Snape
Hello boogalou, that is when we purchased it. It was a little chaotic though. It was a very hot day last year, so I don't think that helped! It was at the end of the day when you picked them up. They might do it differently this year. I just sat down and waited for everyone else to finish. Ok as long as you don't have a train or plane to catch! Bad enough if you have a long drive. It took ages! Also if you have an mds, you can't take the ballet uniform home, you have to wait until that has been finalised, then they will post it to you. You have to pay the postage. My DD was sad that she was not able to take the ballet uniform home I think it came mid summer hols, plenty of time to label it!
Picturesinthefirelight
At least it's better than before StArdustvtook over the academic uniform when you had to try on all the dance stuff at school then try & race over to thevshopmin Hoole before it closed! BalletAims
Hi Boogalou if you contact Starbust you can pre order your uniform so it's all ready for you on the induction day to try on. That's what I've done sent them my daughters measurements and listed what she needs. Hope this helps.
Snape
Now that is a good idea ballet aims! Once you have your starter things, stardust come every Monday I think and it is very easy to pop in and get things then. They are very helpful.

Ballet4Boyz
Can anyone suggest what type of school bags/dance bags I should look at for my DS ? He will be boarding, and I'm aware will possibly be arriving at school wearing dance uniform / tracksuit & then be changing into academic uniform after dance classes. . So I'm thinking he'll need a school bag for all his academic books/pencil case etc & possibly a hold-all to take his uniform in and put his dance gear in after changing ? What do other boarders do regarding carrying things round or do they tend to keep some things at school in lockers. Thanks for any replies
Snape
They have two bags. A school one and a dance one. They said they prefer a rucksack with two straps, as they are heavy, so to prevent back injuries. They are supposed to be black or very dark with no logos. It says on the uniform stuff somewhere. Some people do not have dark bags however. They do have a locker but tend to keep things in it just for that day. They don't store things in it for long periods. Either the dance bag or academic bag is in the locker, depending on what they are doing. Label everything and put something on the bag to make it distinctive as many children have the same/similar bags. It is easy to pick the wrong one up. Sadie123
Does anyone happen to have the Year 7 boys uniform list, I can find it anywhere!!
Boogalou
Hi everyone, before I go ahead and order all uniform (dance and academic) from the suppliers, could you tell me which items I could source for myself elsewhere at a cheaper price? ie are m&s school shirts suitable and cheaper than the supplier, and is the grey skirt a specific style?
Quest
Boogalou, I would order everything you can from other suppliers. With regard to academic uniform this could be school shirts, socks/tights only as the skirt is a specific type. With regard to dance uniform I would get everything other than the blue ballet leotard from other suppliers as they will be cheaper!
Picturesinthefirelight
My daughter has only ever worn M & S school shirts. Yes, the grey skirt is a specific style & ive not been able to source it anywhere else.
Picturesinthefirelight
Parents of boys are luckier as the trousers can be any black or charcoal. Edited June 1, 2016 by Picturesinthefirelight
Boogalou
Thanks Pictures, do you source anything else yourself rather than from Stardust?
Picturesinthefirelight
I used to source more myself when in a previous job I had access to a trade dancewear supplier. Ballet tights/socks tap & jazz shoes & the Wear Moi/Dance-ez leotards cdm come from anywhere.
Picturesinthefirelight
Buy cheap jazz shoes, they rarely if ever wear them. My dd only really wore them during a spell when she had a verucca.

Ballet4Boyz
Can anyone tell me what happens to the boarders in event of illness ? I understand anything serious will require immediate pick up by parents, but what about a heavy cold / fever which would prevent the child from attending classes but may pass in a day or so ? In cases like this - are the children looked after at the boarding houses or would parents be required to collect ?
Eowyn
My dd hasn't been ill yet (unbelievably!) but unless it is anything serious they stay at the boarding house and are looked after staff there.

Karen
Staff are also great at booking medical appointments at the surgery if needed. The only downside we have found is that on a couple of occasions when Dd has been too unwell to attend school, there have been no 'spare' matrons to wait at the boarding house with her whilst the duty matron has to go to school to escort the children back on the bus at the end of the school day. This has meant she has had to go to school in a taxi, dragging her out when poorly and for which we get a taxi bill!
balletmum20
Good morning, does anyone have the year 7 timetable at the moment, I want to have a idea of how much ballet they do each week?
Picturesinthefirelight
Yes but not in an easily copyiable format. The day starts at 8.55 with registration (classes at 9.15am) & runs until 6pm. To summarise year 7 vocational classes: Monday - Ballet (90 mins) Ballet (60 mins) Modern (60 mins) Tuesday - Ballet (90 mins) Ballet (60 mins) Tap (60 mins) Wednesday - Ballet (60 mins) Thursday - RAD Ballet (90 mins) Junior Choir (30 mins) Drama (60 mins) Pilates (60 mins) Friday - RAD Ballet (90 mins) Vocal Training (60 mins) Tap (60 mins) I don't know what classes they do on Saturday mornings but they dance for 3 hours.
