Flexible Fred
Hi all, Question if you audition at 17 at upper school and are successful do you actually join as year 2 and have therefore skipped a year and only study at that school for 2 years? Or do you slot in with first year 16 year olds and do the full 3 years ??
Mrs G
Hi flexible Fred, I think you would start in year 1 . Our DS is a student at laine and started last september aged 16 . The majority of the students in his year group are aged 18 plus .they all started as first years irrelivent of age.
Lifeafterballet
Hi, My Ds is in his first year of A levels / nearly 17 and will be joining Elmhurst 6:1 in September. Technically repeating the year but getting 3 years of ballet training. He is lucky that 3 of his 4 A levels he can do an AS exam in and the other is being transferred. At the prelims this year I met other 17 and even 18 year olds !
Picturesinthefirelight
If you were at a school that studied for the Trinity Diplona (so Dada schools) you would have to show you'd passed the first year assessments. So unless you were transferring from another school & could transfer those credits you would start in the 1st year.
orchidblue
Not all first years will be 16 Flexible Fred. My DD started at upper school after doing her A levels and so was 18 at the start of the first year. She will be 21 when she graduates. ☺
taxi4ballet
For the schools offering a 3-year degree course such as Rambert and Central, then you start in year 1.
