Jan McNulty
And from the Northern Ballet website: Win at the South Bank Awards Published on Monday 6 June, 2016 We are delighted to have won the dance award at the South Bank Sky Arts Awards for its production of 1984. Presented at a ceremony in London yesterday, we were nominated alongside The Royal Ballet and Lost Dog. The awards will be televised on Sky Arts at 8pm on Wednesday 8 June. Recognising British achievements in the arts since 1996, the South Bank Sky Arts Awards celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. The awards, which are unique in celebrating the arts in their entirety, include 10 categories; dance, opera, comedy, TV drama, literature, classical music, pop, film, visual art and theatre. The production, choreographed by Jonathan Watkins, has previously been nominated for a Manchester Theatre Award and was screened on BBC Four at the end of February 2016. The 1984 tour has now ended but the ballet which has previously been shown on BBC Four can be viewed in full online at BBC Arts. Audiences can see us live in our new production of Jane Eyre in Wolverhampton, Stoke and Leicester this month. Next season we will perform Wuthering Heights, Romeo and Juliet and Beauty & the Beast followed by the World Première of Casanova in March 2017. https://northernballet.com/blogs/northern-ballet/16-06-06/win-at-the-south-bank-awards
