balletmummy
did anyone's dds do this summer school last year? I have heard mixed reviews from one parent, that the dancers taking the classes were not that kind and shouted at the students during class. Any info gratefully received before we make a decision for dd (10)
Loulabelle
My DD did it two years ago at 12 and would recommend it very highly. In saying that she was in with the older girls (course 4) so it was challenging for her which she likes. Had she been in the younger group it would not have been so good. Piccolo
In terms of kindness to the children, I don't know of anyone whose had a bad experience. Staff are well liked by the children. There is a code of conduct that is expected to be respected though, as with all ballet courses...

Happymum
My DD did the 11+ ballet course last year and loved it. She found it a bit challenging (though was one of the youngests) but thought all the teachers/dancers were very nice. I never heard a bad comment about ballet Cymru workshops or intensive courses - and my DD did several of them. She'll be definitely going this year again.
Pups_mum
No experience of the summer school, but DD has done a number of workshops with Ballet Cymru over the years and has always thoroughly enjoyed them. She has specifically commented on how encouraging and positive all the staff were.
proudmum
I am very surprised to hear that the dancers taking class were unkind - my dd is an associate and has done 2 summer schools and I have only ever known the dancers to be professional and encouraging.
Guest
I an second what everyone else is saying about the dancers and staff. Nothing but kind and encouraging towards me and all others who have done courses/ associates. I know I wouldn't be where I am now without all the support and encouragement off all at ballet Cymru

2dancersmum
My DDs have done the summer school courses several times over a number of years level 3, 4 and the professionals course and always found them very welcoming and encouraging. Certainly no experience of shouting at the students.
Happymum
Does anybody know where are the courses taking place this year? Riverfront theatre or ballet Cymru studios? Previously it was in both places but this year it's organised differently. I did email them after reading the leaflet carefully but in reply I've received the same leaflet with the same info again - so the answer is there but I can't see it! I guess that if the performance is in Riverftont that maybe the everyday lessons as well? I just don't know if there is enough room in the theatre to teach both groups at the same time? I wanted both my DC to attend but it can't be done if it's in 2 different places...
Happymum
Just to let everybody know that I've heard back from Ballet Cymru and this year all the courses are held at the Rieverfront Theatre in Newport. Much easier for DC traveling by bus or train.
