Jan McNulty Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 (edited) Royal Ballet of Flanders: Applications required by 15th February. Thanks to Aileen for mentioning this on another thread. https://operaballet.be/en/the-house/hiring/audities#tab Edited January 15, 2016 by Janet McNulty edited to add company name 2
aileen Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Should we have a 'Company Auditions' thread, Janet, so that people looking for jobs just have to look in one place? 3
wildflowers Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Another one...spotted it in Dancing Times https://tulsaballet.org/company/auditions-employment/ Auditioning in London on 28 Feb.
2dancersmum Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Without meaning to be negative here, but there are plenty of sites that those looking for work can look at for auditions. There are about 11 currently advertised on Dance Europe for example and more on other sites like Network Dance and Ballet Companies that update just about daily. Then there are the cruise ships and the likes of Disney with multiple auditions a year and sites that advertise contemporary dance auditions. This forum would be overrun if a new thread was started for each audition members came across. If Balletcoforum as a whole wants to advertise auditions, could there please be a specific thread for this purpose.
Jan McNulty Posted January 15, 2016 Author Posted January 15, 2016 I have amended the title to be more generic. I do not believe we require a thread for every company holding auditions but a general thread for people to record upcoming auditions may be a useful resource. 11
primrose Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 I think it would be a great idea to have a thread about upcoming company auditions, those that plan to attend and then their experiences of the auditions. This could prove very educational to our younger dancers. 11
taxi4ballet Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 This thread is a good idea and really helpful, not only for grads looking for company auditions, but also for those still in training who will need details in the future (and their parents, who will be expected to know everything ) I suspect that quite a few companies don't actually advertise as such, and it is all done by word-of-mouth, and one needs to be 'in the know' to find out about them!. 6
Jan McNulty Posted January 15, 2016 Author Posted January 15, 2016 Just a reminder that applications for Northern Ballet need to be in by Monday: http://northernballet.com/vacancies/northern-ballet-company-auditions
2dancersmum Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Ballet Cymru are accepting applications at the moment for auditions to be held towards the end of February for March-December contracts (audition by invitation only). Details on their website welshballet.co.uk.

aileen Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 I hope that this thread will give dancers not yet in their graduate year and their parents a feel for which companies audition and when and how the auditions are held. Of course graduate year dancers will get advice from their schools and check Dance Europe's website but this thread will, I hope, give an idea of what is happening in the dance world regarding auditions. 9
Lisa O`Brien Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 It`s very interesting, reading the links to each company, the requirements. I noticed many of them say excellent classical and CONTEMPORARY technique. Do students get a strong training in contemporary at the classical schools? 2

aileen Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Surely it's very unusual for POB to recruit externally at corps level. It's a pity that the thread on dancers and a Brexit has been locked as this information would have been of interest to the people contributing to that particular thread. 5

It's a pity that the thread on dancers and a Brexit has been locked as this information would have been of interest to the people contributing to that particular thread. As far as I'm aware (for corps temporary contracts at least) this has been happening for some years now. 2
balletsoccermom Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Are these positions for the 2017-2018 season?
Anon2 Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Are these positions for the 2017-2018 season? On the advert it just says some are temp and some are permanent posts. So from that assuming yes as audition is in July.
Lisa O`Brien Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 On the POB website where it is advertised it says you have to telephone for details. Telephone Paris? Gosh, I wouldn't want it to be a long conversation then ! 1

Lisa O`Brien Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 I auditioned at Pineapple many years ago for a dancing job at Euro Disney. We had to phone a number initially before some of us were invited to the audition or not. But the phone number was a UK number. The whole interview over the phone was in French. Luckily back then I spoke fluent French, after doing it at A level and also living in Paris for a year. So I was given an invitation to audition. Didn't get the job though. They wanted strong jazz dancers and I didn't have a clue. 1
