amos73
Just wondering if anyone has any experience of trying lower school auditions and suggestions of what to do for four hours while DC are in audition. Just had email from registrar saying parents leave at 10 am and return at 2pm to collect them. Don't think I can face four hours sitting in Costa!

porthesia
Tring Museum, Akeman Street, or shops in Aylesbury. Down the side street be Costas there used to be Coasters coffee shop, not sure if still there, there is also an Auction house.
Balletmum4ever
If it's 4 hours, I would be tempted to drive home as only 40 mins away for me if traffic is good. Otherwise, shopping is my fall back - Bicester or John Lewis near High Wycombe? Or there is Champney's spa close by if you feel the need to relax during what will be a stressful time!
hfbrew
If you like a walk in the Country side how about Tring Reservoir? They have coffee shop too.
taxi4ballet
If you take a drive on the Bulbourne Road out of Tring towards Ivinghoe, there is Tring garden centre, and also College Lake Wildlife Trust reserve. Both of them have cafes and are really nice to wander round as well.
Anna C
You can kill an hour or two in Costa, take a book or download things to watch on an ipad. Recline in the car and enjoy the enforced break! Or drive to Aylesbury/Watford for shopping. You might even be able to fit in a film at Aylesbury cinema if the timing is right.
Picturesinthefirelight
I do it every Saturday at hammond. Drop dd off at 9am, then kill time until I pick her up at12.30 noon.
Huddsballetmum
I usually download a film or a book to my Ipad when being a dance mum and read or catch up on the relaxing that I never get to do normally. Â Cushion and fleecy blanket in the car and I snuggle up on the back seat. Â Can almost convince myself I'm on the sofa at home!!

afab
I once spent 7 hours in the hall! I got to see lots of classes and read a lot, talked to other parents, met 2 famous people... All in all a very enjoyable, even if a bit long, day!

taxi4ballet
Or, if you like stuffed animals......Tring Natural History Museum I'm going to have to visit one of these days - my Grandad stuffed some of them!!!  (What a claim to fame, eh? They didn't catch them in the wild to stuff them, most were deceased from London Zoo or private collections)
Interested Parent
I love Berkhamsted which is an easy drive and only about 5 miles away so closer than Aylesbury, Bicester etc. It's a large historic town with lots of small shops and a super old fashioned tea shop above a beautiful very large antiques shop. It's also next to the NT's Asheridge Estate.

Picturesinthefirelight
No way Angel, there's nothing to you! Â I've lost count of the Sunday afternoons spent in Stockport Costa (everywhere else closes at 4pm). Â Still it's preferable to what I'm doing at the moment, I'm soaking wet whilst Ds is at football training. I'm afraid I gave up & am trying to dry off in the car.
Mom2dancingkenz
I have 5 hours to kill one Sunday a month when I drop my dd off at The Hammond. amos73
So many great suggestions thanks!! I just didn't realise it would be quite so long I think, and as DD has done CBA am acquainted with the 'charms' of the Costa on the high street but thought four hours in there might be a bit of a stretch!

triphazard
Or, if you like stuffed animals......Tring Natural History Museum  Including for some reason a set of fleas wearing Mexican dress. I read somewhere that Charles Rothschild bought them under the assumption that they were scientific specimens, and got a bit of a surprise when he opened the box, poor chap.  I'm going to have to visit one of these days - my Grandad stuffed some of them!!! What fun to be able to go to a museum, point at an exhibit and say 'Granddad did that' Edited November 19, 2015 by triphazard
