Ghastly news coming out of Paris at the moment: my thoughts and prayers are with anyone closely affected by these attacks, and/or those waiting for news.

Yet another sickening attack. I feel sick. All those young people. My heartfelt sympathies to the people of Paris and elsewhere affected by this appalling tragedy.

Terrible news. I hope the intelligence services will learn from this attack and be able to prevent future ones.

This is dreadful news. All those people just out for a pleasant evening suddenly finding themselves caught up in this horror. When I was a child my mother took me to the Ideal Home Exhibition, which turned out to be the year a bomb was detonated on one of the stands. We were just around the corner on that floor and even now, I remember the sound of the explosion, followed by what can only have been a fraction of a second of silence, then the screaming, the smoke and smell, then a stampede of people trying to find a way out. I didn't understand what was happening but I remember the feeling of utter terror. The victims of this latest atrocity in Paris have my absolute sympathy.

I have read that a state of emergency across the whole French nation has been declared. It is a truly dark day not only for France but for all nations which enjoy freedom and democracy. My heart goes out to the French people. I feel so, so sad about what has happened to you and to your proud nation.

Horrific news. My friend and family live in Paris but luckily I have just heard that they are all safe. So hard to comprehend that human beings can do such things to each other.

Family member lives there: the cafe & restaurant are his everyday meeting places. Most fortunately he was teaching elsewhere in Paris and so was safe. He is staying with wonderful kind friends out of town but is in shock and afraid that he may have lost friends... I used to live in Paris too. Used quite a few words today, none of them appropriate for social media.

A friend of mine who is a director at the Moulin Rouge has told me on Facebook that both the MR and Lido will be closed tonight. [The Moulin Rouge and Lido are owned by the same family, the Clerico`s]. He said everyone in Paris was feeling very afraid today.

On the Sky News website they are quoting a Greek Minister who has said that the Syrian passport of one of the attackers belonged to someone who got into the EU via Greece in October. Didn`t say if the actual migrant was the same person which carried out the attack, just that his passport was found on him.

It's so awful that people have been killed in the name of a religion when they are purely terrorists who want to hurt people.  I can't imagine what it must be like for the families of those who are dead or seriously injured.  My heart goes out to them.
