Balletmum4ever Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 My DD is auditioning tomorrow for LCB for the first time. On the confirmation email it says that the audition is 30 mins and then we have to wait to see if we are needed for the recall on the day. My DD asked me whether you are out if you are not taken in for recall on the day or not. I wasn't certain from the info that we have received what the purpose of the recall is so couldn't answer. Is it a second stage for those they like or to look more closely at those that they are undecided about? Any experience would be welcome so that I can manage expectations tomorrow!!
Nancy19 Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Hi, the girls all dance for the first part of audition, the parents are then invited in and they call out the numbers of the children they want to stay for the second part of the audition. If your number isn't called you are then free to leave. After the second part you are free to leave and will receive a letter in the post about a week later, either saying its a no or inviting you to the finals. After the finals you then get another letter offering you a place or a no letter. This was the procedure for last few years, although this year auditions are at a different location and I think corosponce is now via email rather than letters. Good luck for tomorrow. It's a lovely audition experience X
Balletsister Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 My DD also auditioning for the first time tomorrow. It says on email that all auditionees will be contacted with results so does that mean if you don't get a recall for second part of audition tomorrow then that it's a definate no?
Aklf Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 I believe that's the case. If not recalled tomorrow then it's the end of the process. That's what happened when dd auditioned anyway! It's a multi stage nail biting process. Dd loved being part of it, fantastic experience and run by brilliant people. Good luck everyone! The audition is fun too so they will enjoy it.
Balletmum4ever Posted October 24, 2015 Author Posted October 24, 2015 Yes, that was what I assumed but just wanted to check with those who have gone though the process. What group are you in Balletsister? We're group C (9 year olds).
kiwimum6 Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 The good thing to know is that all auditionees are offered a masterclass... A great experience x 1
Anna C Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Also, if unsuccessful for the London production, do consider LCB's wonderful summer schools. For various reasons, dd was never able to audition for LCB but she did their senior summer school three times and it was an absolutely fantastic experience every time.
double trouble Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Few yrs ago my daughter got through to casting but then didn't get any further ! She did masterclass and loved it so worth doing audition it's lovely experience , good luck x 1
double trouble Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 It is lovely when they come out after first audition and their number is called ! Not so nice if it isn't ! But lots of children audition x
Balletmum4ever Posted October 24, 2015 Author Posted October 24, 2015 Any idea how many go through to the recall on the first audition day?
kiwimum6 Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 More than 5 from each group get through the first round to the recall... There could be over 20 in the recall across 2 groups that are joined together. From this about half are invited to the final audition. From the final about 5 of each age group taken into the company. The Artistic Director is also looking for children to take part in Lcb tours from the finalists...an amazing experience. Good luck everyone! 2
Balletmum4ever Posted October 25, 2015 Author Posted October 25, 2015 Sitting here at ENBS waiting. DD got through to the recall which is very exciting. They had 3 groups of 9 year olds, looked like about 30 in each group. 10 from DD's group went back in. Now the nerve racking wait for emails! 3
double trouble Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 Well done to your daughter hope she enjoyed it x
Balletmum4ever Posted October 25, 2015 Author Posted October 25, 2015 She loved it and is so keen to get called to Finals now. Fingers crossed and good luck to others auditioning today and next week.
Nancy19 Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 Well done to your daughter and all the others auditioning today. I'm interested to find out if results are via email so keep us posted. My Daughters audition not till text week. Fingers crossed for you all X
May H Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 I've got my audition shortly..soo nervous!! How early should I arrive, and does anyone know the ability level they're looking for for older ages?
Balletmum4ever Posted October 25, 2015 Author Posted October 25, 2015 You need to arrive pretty close to the time you have been given for registration, maybe 5 mins or so before as there is not much waiting space. My DD was excited and nervous in equal measure but she really enjoyed the experience. She said that it was fun and everyone was lovely. Can't comment on the standard as I did not see anyone dance nor would I feel qualified! Good luck! 1
double trouble Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 When my DD did it it was letter not email but might of changed as few yrs ago x
kiwimum6 Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 It will be by how you applied. If by letter, reply by letter. If you applied online, results will be by e mail.
Balletsister Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Don't want to jump the gun and tempt fate but does anyone have date for casting if successful?
Guest Autumn days Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Primaballerina, did your dd audition yesterday? I hope she did well! Â When my dd did this many years ago I think there were about 6 or 7 girls in every age group. It was a great thng to do.

Guest Autumn days Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Good luck, then - I know this will be a big day for you!! They were all lovely when my dd did it so I'm sure you and dd will enjoy the day regardless of the outcome!
Kittyjewel Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Hi all - my dd was also recalled last Sunday and I guess we are waiting now for the email :s does anyone recall them mentioning it will be by the end of this week ? Or would you think it more likely by the end of next week?
Balletmum4ever Posted October 30, 2015 Author Posted October 30, 2015 The original email said that it would be by 7th Nov so potentially another week. This is our first experience of this and I am finding the waiting absolute torture!! Fingers crossed for all those waiting and good luck for Sun for the 10, 12, 14s and boys.
Tinkerbelle Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 My dd was also recalled last Sunday and we are finding the wait awful too! They must be waiting until today's audition rounds are finished I think. This is dd's first ever audition experience so it's all new to us. Very glad to have found this forum which has been so informative
Lemongirl Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Is there any nearby parking at the venue please?
Primaballerina1 Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 DD is very excited as she got a recall today! 3
Balletmum4ever Posted November 1, 2015 Author Posted November 1, 2015 Well done to your DD Primaballerina1. At least you will have less than a week to wait!! Still biting nails for news here.
