Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask but does anyone know if any of Sylvie Guillems full length ballets are on DVD/Blu Ray?

Unfortunately none of her great classical performances, just a couple of later contemporary performance like 'Push' with Russel Maliphant and 'Bye' by Mats Ek. There is a double disc, 'At Work/Portrait', mainly documentary with ballet clips.

There is also Guillem's performance of full length Manon with Laurent Hilaire on YouTube.

Search L'histoire de Manon as it is known in Paris.

As well, there is a full length Giselle with Guillem and Hilaire

Thanks - I have seen these performances (there is also a full length Bayadere somewhere on YouTube too). These were what actually made me curious about whether there is any official (and therefore better quality) film of her performances.

Thankfully, even when they retire we can look back on ballerinas like Nunez where we have plentiful footage to relive their artistry. It seems shocking to me that there are not any of Sylvie - given her extraordinary ability.

There’s a DVD of Guillem in Marguerite and Armand.  I haven’t seen it, but it comes up on eBay fairly frequently.

That DVD was only retailed in Japan, and currently out of stock but second hand ones can be purchased.

Anthony Dowell and Nicolas Le Riche co-stars.

It was available in Europe, I'm not sure if I bought it in Paris or England.

It's actually rather disappointing , given it contains the fabulous Le Riche and Guillem. It's a film (not just a filmed performance) but their performances with the Royal Ballet were, in my view, much  more thrilling than on this film.

It was made during a tour of Japan. There are extra sections focusing on their preparations on tour before performing.

It was very disappointing that although Guillem did perform at Le Riche's final performance at the Opera she refused to allow her contribution to be shown on film.

I don’t understand the rationale for DVDs of dance retailed in one country only.

The power of dance is that it is not spoken and therefore universally accessible to all!

In the case of Japanese published DVDs, usually it just means that they don’t have a route to put them on international market (some of them were available at Opera de Paris’s store) and sometimes could be purchased from Japanese HMV or Tower Records online.
I don’t think it is a copyright issue (such as geoblocking in case of streaming)

From what I understand Guillem did not like being filmed and often requested for her performances to be removed from the DVD or official cinema release. I remember she danced at Nicholas LeRiche's farewell but her portion of the evening was removed from the cinemacast.

Just tried is again and it works for me .https://youtu.be/tq5MUR7qedM

Try logging into youtube and entering the key words 'Talbot / Wheeldon: Like Water for Chocolate (The Royal Ballet)' to see if that works

I mean the links to where the DVDs are sold. The video itself is fine.
This video's description has broken links only -
DVD - https://naxos.lnk.to/OA1366D Blu-Ray - https://naxos.lnk.to/OABD7312D - these lead to 404 errors
So there doesn't seem to be an official selling page yet.

It is listed on Amazon.c.uk. I can only send the direct link to an email address, not yet available to pre order, but the bar code is

Like Water for Chocolate, Royal Ballet is now listed for a 23rd June release on DVD and Blu Ray, on Amazon.

Phew! It’s only taken so long… Just wish it on ROH Stream. I assume it’s June 23rd because ABT opens it at the met opera house June 22nd.

I hope the ABT version is also recorded/streamed.

That would be great. All six top named characters at the 22 June gala premiere are Principals on the ABT roster:

Tita - Cassandra Trenary

Pedro - Herman Cornejo

Mama Elena - Christine Shevchenko

Rosaura - Hee Seo

Gertrudis - Catherine Hurlin

Dr. John Brown - Thomas Forster

It was the same at some RB performances as well.

When I saw this ballet streamed, I hadn't read the synopsis previously and had difficulty in understanding what was happening. I have now read the book and seen the restored film on blu-ray and hence better prepared for the ballet release on disc, without it being any more credible.  I enjoyed the music and dancing though.
