pointe help needed, Grishko

Recommended Posts

Hello I am new here :D I really need advice to buy new pointes. I am an amateur so I only practice 2 hours weekly. The choices for pointe shoes I can buy are grishko 2007, 2007 proflex and fouette proflex. Also sanchas. My last pair was a capezio, and I wore it for many years (makes me wonder how after reading pointe shoes last only for some months, I am afraid they are broken but they feel okay.)

I have low arches and medium length toes. When I tried 2007 I felt the vamp was a bit long but idk if this would loosen up when I work my demi pointe with it.

I am really confused, some months later I might find grishko triumph, would those be better? My feet are fairly strong I have been dancing for 10 years.

Thanks in advance :)

You should be getting fitted for your shoes when you buy them at the pointe shoe shop!  If you aren't being taught pointe properly or fitted properly you could seriously injure yourself.  I don't know if by 'amateur' you mean you are practicing at home, or if you are in formal ballet classes, but pointe work really isn't something you can teach yourself at home.

Sorry if I've completely misunderstood you and your experience though - perhaps clarify a bit more?

Hello Yara and welcome to the Forum.

I think Hopeforpointe has made some good points.

If you use the search facility there is plenty of advice and comments on pointe shoe fittings and I am sure other members will chip in with your query too.

Hello Yara, and welcome from me too. Sorry I can`t help with your question either. I haven`t done pointe work for many decades, but hopefully some other Forum members will have some knowledge for you. I see you are from Egypt. Wow,very exotic.!!  I think you are our first Forum member from Egypt, and like I said, you are very welcome. The fame of the Balletco Forum is spreading far and wide.!!

Thank you all for the replies :) I am trully thrilled to join :D

I want to make clear that I am not trying at home :D I have been practising for 10 years with a great teacher here, but he wouldn't really help with buying pointes as he is a he. So no worries I am not injuring myself, I meant by amateur that I practice once weekly, and I am not on the national ballet team :D (unfortunately)

Second point is that here there is no pointe shops so there are no fitting procedures. There is just someone that contacts grishko and sells from their brand but she can't fit us :D so for fitting I'd wait till I am abroad for vacation or so. :(
