  1. For those who may be interested, Danceworks are once again running an Improvers Ballet Course for adults taught by Dmitri Gruzdev, who has formerly played leading roles in the English National Ballet and partaken in several touring works during his extensive dance career. The course is aimed at those who have attended ballet classes in the past, such as beginner or other improvers classes, and are looking to improve their level towards intermediate. Students may have attended ballet classes, a beginners course or another improvers course in the past. Each class will consist of barre and centre work, improving placement and posture, building up strength and flexibility and learning new steps. The course will run from 21st August - 9th October 2018, every Tuesday from 18:30-20:00. Minimum age is 18, open to both men and women. For more information on the course, Dmitri or to book, click here. For more on all things ballet and dance on our general website, click here. Thank you for reading, have a lovely day!
  2. Hi, Does anyone have any experience with Danceworks (London)? We are considering signing our daughter (who is 7) up for their 2 week summer intensive but would really value some advice. Many thanks!
  3. Has anyone tried the beginners ballet class at danceworks on a Tuesday at 4:30pm. Think it's taught by Christina-Maria Mittelmaier? Just wondering what people thought of the class and what level it was actually aimed at as open classes can be tricksy! Thanks!
  4. I am very grateful to Janet McNulty for permission to link this article to my post in Terpsichore. Yesterday the outstanding young dancer Michaela DePrince gave a masterclass at Danceworks' studios in Balderton Street. The general manager of Danceworks, Lesley Osman, very kindly sent me some lovely photos of the class with permission to reproduce them in my blog. She also arranged for one of the students, Ciara Sturrock, to write an account of her experience of that class. I have incorporated both into an article entitled Michaela's Masterclass which you can read at http://jelterps.blogspot.co.uk/2015/07/michaelas-masterclass.html I am very grateful to both Lesley and Ciara for those materials, I saw DePrince in Cool Britannia on 27 June 2015 and reviewed the show in Dutch National Ballet's Cool Britannia. I look forward to seeing her dance in Wheeldon's Cinderella on Saturday and at the opening gala of the Dutch ballet season in Amsterdam on 8 Sept.
