  1. I've always wanted to do ballet ever since I was young but im really shy and struggle with social anxiety and overall just have low confidence in myself , I rather blend in with the crowd. I'm 15 around 5'3 and I'm 43kg (not the healthiest weight) I work out at home but really don't have any muscle or anything it's just to tone my body I guess. I was wondering would i be able to start ballet , also some words of encouragement from people who also suffer from social anxiety and low confidence on how they managed to start maybe? Thank you!
  2. Hi everyone! This is my first post on the forum - I'm a 20 year old in London with minimal previous experience in ballet (would probably need to start from absolute beginner's classes again) and I was hoping to get back into it, but I've been discouraged from learning ballet due to my disability, which leaves me with poor balance, a lack of leg control and muscle strength, and I can't point my toes on one foot properly. From the stuff I've read online, I feel like if I work hard enough I can overcome these limitations, I just need a bit more time - but my previous teacher wasn't really patient with my lack of progress in classes and so ended up ignoring me entirely (which makes sense, seeing as I was weighing down the rest of the class). Preferably I'd like a teacher who has experience working with disabled students, or someone who would be open to doing 1 on 1 lessons? The places I've looked so far only have group classes (including the disabled dance troupes/projects etc), so I thought I'd ask here in case anyone could point me in the right direction of where to look next. Thanks! 😊
  3. Hello fellow dancers! I recently got my first pair of pointe shoes this past January. They are Suffolk Stellars 5.5 XXXXN. I sewed crisscross elastics onto them, so I could get maximum suppoirt for my feet. Once I had finished sewing them on, I realized that the position of the elastics made my shoes look unclean. So, can I move them? Or should I remove them completely and sew single ankle bands? Maybe I should wait until my next pair, and try a different position of my elastics? I attached some images, so you can see what I mean...... Also, I don't believe I am doing well getting over my box for taking 2-3 thirty minute pointe classes a week, for two months. I bent my shanks back and forth, and this helped my left foot a little, but not my right at all. Is it my feet, or my shoes? Or, am I doing fine, and have to wait until they mold to my feet more, over the next months? Thanks for helping a fellow dancer out! - Perfectly On Pointe P.S. I will cut my ribbons/elastics when I am sure I don't have to move them or tighten them.
  4. Evening everyone, we run ballet classes at English National Ballet School in Fulham. A new offering from us is an absolute beginners class we're launchiung for this summer term. It takes place at 19:30-20:30 on friday eveings at the school on hortensia road.
