  1. In a bid to “tidy up” Doing Dance so that everybody sees and reads the important “From the Moderators” threads, we have consolidated and unpinned some of the many pinned threads at the top of Doing Dance. The useful “Questions about Upper School auditions” and “Questions about Lower School auditions” threads can now be found here: Upper Schools: https://www.balletcoforum.com/topic/5000-questions-about-upper-school-auditions/ Lower Schools: https://www.balletcoforum.com/topic/4999-questions-about-lower-school-auditions/
  2. BEFORE YOU POST: Please read and abide by the following threads from the Moderators: 1. Schools we do not discuss publicly: https://www.balletcoforum.com/topic/22271-from-the-moderators-topics-that-are-off-limits/ 2. General rules around the discussion of schools: https://www.balletcoforum.com/topic/18707-from-the-moderators-forum-policy-for-discussion-of-all-vocational-schools/ 3. A reminder about “highly critical” posts and forum rules: https://www.balletcoforum.com/topic/20705-from-the-moderators-hidden-posts-and-aup/?ct=1583516684 4. A reminder about how and when to report a thread or post: https://www.balletcoforum.com/topic/14290-from-the-moderators-correct-forum-reporting-procedures/ 5. Our Forum rules: https://www.balletcoforum.com/topic/417-the-balletcoforum-acceptable-use-policy/ We are *still* having to hide and edit posts which breach our Forum rules and/or mention institutions that, in accordance with our legal obligations, we do not discuss publicly on BalletcoForum. PLEASE help us to keep Doing Dance running by abiding by our rules, to which ALL members agree when joining the Forum.
  3. To all forum members: In accordance with our legal obligations, all threads and posts relating to the following institutions are hidden: The School of Ballet Theatre UK Ballet West (Scotland) Any new postings relating to these schools will be locked or hidden. We will advise members if and when this situation changes. In the meantime, please do not post anything relating to these schools, including, but not limited to: Full or part-time courses (including Associates) Competitions run by either school Competition winners from either school where the school is named. Anyone ignoring this rule risks being suspended and repeat offenders will be banned. Thank you. Balletcoforum Moderators
  4. There have been a number of postings recently that have had to be hidden as they breach the Acceptable Use Policy to which all users agreed when they signed up. It is noted that some of these posts were made by members who have been reminded of this in the past. The AUP includes prohibitions on highly critical posts made using a pseudonym and on potentially libellous posts. Those responsible for this forum have no way of independently verifying potentially libellous posts and, accordingly, it is irrelevant if the matters in a potentially libellous post are true or not. The trustees of this forum are not willing to put their livelihoods on the line; therefore, if members wish to discuss contentious matters in this way, they will need to go elsewhere to do so. Further breaches of the AUP are likely to result in members being suspended or banned. Thank you.
  5. Hello forum members, and a very Happy New Year. I would like to remind you all of the correct reporting procedures on this forum. Should you wish to report a post for any reason, or make a general comment or complaint, please do so by sending your message to the whole moderating team at the same time by using the 'report' link which is to be found at the bottom of each posting area. Click on 'Report' at the bottom of the post, then you can add your comments explaining why you are reporting the post. Often, forum members contact one moderator directly, and this can, and often does, cause a delay in the complaint being seen. If that one moderator is away, out, ill or for some other reason not checking their devices/computer, the rest of us won't know about the complaint. Your kind co-operation in the above will be much appreciated, and will also ensure that your communications with us are dealt with more rapidly. Please be assured that all complaints are dealt with in the utmost confidence. Many thanks, Simonetta Dixon (Sim) Chair BalletcoForum Committee
  6. Discussion of Vocational Schools and Courses A particular area of difficulty for Forum Moderators on several occasions has been discussion of Vocational Schools, on which experiences and views have understandably differed, sometimes quite strongly. Against that background, the general Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) conditions continue to apply but, as regards Vocational Schools and Courses, these additional parameters are added: 1. Posts about schools or courses should report personal experiences only (posted by the student, members of a student’s family, or the student’s teacher with permission). 2. They should not include second-hand information - eg claiming to speak on someone else’s behalf, or for “many people,” “the majority of students,” and so forth. 3. As a reminder of the Forum’s Acceptable Use Policy (to which all members agree upon signing up) nothing should be included that could be construed as defamatory in any way and which could therefore lead to legal ramifications (eg oblique references to, or vague allegations of, unlawful or abusive behaviour.) The Forum’s Acceptable Use Policy can be found here: http://www.balletcoforum.com/topic/417-the-balletcoforum-acceptable-use-policy/ Balletcoforum Moderators
