  1. Introducing the newly designed PBT Associates UK. PBT (Progressing Ballet Technique) is proven to increase strength and understanding of technique in classical ballet. This revolutionary programme coaches the core muscles meaning the student is left able to focus more on artistry and presentation. Classes are lead by Principal and Level 3, Elite Certified PBT Teacher, Ellie Wright*. PBT Associates UK offers: Senior Associates (year 8+) a 2 and a half hour fully integrated PBT and ballet class. Numbers are kept small in order for focus to be given to each individual student and increases in difficulty level given to the more advanced students. There is also the option for senior associates to join a once a week group zoom PBT lesson (Wednesday evening 4.30-5.30pm). Junior Associates (Year 5-7) a 2 hour and 15 mins fully integrated PBT and ballet class. This class format allows students to follow through the process from strength training to movements in order to increase understanding and technique. Class are second Sunday of every month held at the MAC, Birmingham. All details can be found in the ‘Services’ section of our Facebook page. Auditions for the programme for Entry in January 2023 are 11th December 2022, at the Mac, Birmingham 11.00-13.30. 2. If you’re looking to improve your dancers technique and strength then PBT is an excellent place to start. Introducing PBT Associates UK - the fist and only PBT associates programme. Starting on Sunday. Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is an innovative body-conditioning and strengthening programme to enhance students technique and is hugely valuable especially for classical ballet students. With the full support of Marie Walton-Mahon, the creator and founder of PBT, my Associate programme has been created to provide classes for talented students to expand upon their current training. Associate classes are held at the MAC in Birmingham, there will also be an optional weekly zoom lesson on a Wednesday. As a level 3 certified teacher I also hold both private and group classes on zoom and at the Spirit Studio in Gloucester. PBT Associates is offering an initial set of open classes, 11th September, 9th October, 13th November before Auditions take place on the 11th December for the programme beginning in January 2023. You don’t have to be able to attend all of the open classes to apply. There are still places available, we are initially running at two levels: Junior Associates - School Yrs 5-8 11.30am-12.45pm - PBT 12.45-2.00pm - Ballet Senior Associates - School Yrs 9+ 12.45-2.00pm - PBT 2.00-3.15pm - Ballet Ballet classes are taught by RBS SA teacher Sue Lucas, and former BRB dancer Alicia Nelson. 3. PBT Associates UK’s applications for our December auditions are OPEN! The programme focusses on the work of PBT (Progressing Ballet Technique), which is an amazing programme designed in Australia with proven results in greatly improving ballet technique. It runs with full support from Marie Walton-Mahon, founder and creator of PBT. Many regular students of the highly qualified and experienced PBT teacher, Ellie Wright, are at vocational schools and all get praised for their maintained and improved strength from holiday training. Last year I had 7 students successfully audition and go off to the leading ballet schools in the UK. The programme consists of a PBT lesson which is directly followed by a ballet lesson to put the improved technique learnt and strength into practice. Ballet lessons are taught by highly experienced and ex professional dancers from BRB Susan Lucas and Alicia Nelson. There are some open classes running presently, October and November dates still have spaces available. The auditions for the programme are in December for a January start. No PBT experience is required to attend the open classes or audition. The audition will be a ballet class. Early application is encouraged and places are limited to ensure quality training. Find us on Facebook and Instagram - PBT Associates UK, for more information. 4. Can anyone recommend someone who can give PBT lessons online? Either group or private? I think PBT would really help my daughter, but cannot find anyone local for lessons. Any advice is welcome. Thanks in advance.
  5. I've just spent a lovely Sunday morning doing a Progressing Ballet Technique workshop - a gentle introduction to the first level of exercises of this programme. My teacher has done the full training, and is starting to teach us the programme. I found it really interesting - the beginning level we did was not too strenuous, so I was able to work on form & breathing. The exercises working on attitude devant, and also from second to arabesque via a little promenade, were the most challenging, which tells me something about the access I have to my core strength (I have a strong back & core for all the lying down stuff!) and how I need to keep working on engagement of core in extended positions. My teacher is going to do a 45 minute class before our main weekly ballet class, which will be great. Like Pilates, it was gentle, and we were encouraged to work within our body's structure, but the additional stuff using ballet positions and turnout was really helpful. I also realised that I find a lot of the exercises easier in turn out than parallel. Highly recommend, if you live anywhere near a fully trained teacher of the programme.
