  1. Does anyone know anything about this gala? Seen on the Royal Albert Hall website. Tickets are pricey at £240.00 🤔 https://www.royalalberthall.com/tickets/events/2021/british-ballet-charity-gala/ Join us for a unique evening of ballet at the Royal Albert Hall hosted by none other than Dame Darcey Bussell and the wonderful Ore Oduba. For the very first time, dancers from all eight of Britain’s main ballet companies – Ballet Black, Birmingham Royal Ballet, English National Ballet, New Adventures, Northern Ballet, Rambert, Scottish Ballet and The Royal Ballet – will perform pieces from their repertoire on the same stage. Accompanied by the Royal Ballet Sinfonia under the direction of conductor Paul Murphy, this extraordinary performance will be a powerful, beautiful and purposeful act of solidarity by Britain’s ballet industry to raise awareness of and funds for their art.
  2. So I was talking to a young person who only knows Darcey B from Strictly, and I was thinking about a clip to send them of a performance that defined her dancing. If you were only allowed one, which ballet would you choose? I bet many people would be amazed to see her at her finest....
  3. This is something i've always wondered. I'm not an expert on ballet at all, but I, like pretty much everyone in the UK, have always known who Darcey Bussell is. Even before she did Strictly, she was by far the most famous ballerina in the country, and if you asked someone in the UK over the last 10-20 years to name a ballet dancer, I reckon close to 100% of them would have said Darcey. I've never really understood why that is. Was it just because she's British and became a principal of the most famous ballet company at such a young age? Was she a particularly impressive ballerina, or did her skills lift her above other dancers? Was it just that she was good looking, photogenic and did a lot of the French and Saunders sketches? I'm not old enough to have seen her dance in her prime, so I don't really know what she was like. It's strange that she became such a household name when other British ballet dancers (Bull, Cuthbertson etc) haven't.
  4. From this week's links: "It's about the history of dance and looking at the divas of the ballet world. I'll be travelling to Russia to speak to a lot of dancers over there." I wonder if she'll be speaking to ... ? http://www.express.co.uk/entertainment/tv-radio/427647/Strictly-confidential-Strictly-Come-Dancing-s-Darcey-Bussell-reveals-all
