  1. No comment on the dress rehearsal today, for the usual reasons, but did anyone happen to catch the pre-show announcement about two (I think) cast changes? I missed this as my neighbour arrived rather noisily at exactly that moment and so I am puzzling as to who we saw who isn't on the cast list.
  2. Selling due to diary clash. Francesca Hayward and Cesar Corrales in Swan Lake, 8 April 2020, Ampitheatre E47, 48 £82 or ONO.
  3. If anybody has any Stalls Circle tickets for Coppélia on the 10th December I would be very grateful 😊
  4. Any idea when we might expect the ROH 19/20 season to be announced? I've never known it so late as this year.
  5. hi all, I have a paper ticket for this Insights talk (currently sold out) 14 November 2019 (think there is enough time to mail you the ticket) Clore Studio, ROH Level 6 Row B, Seat 8 £11
  6. The Spring 2020 edition of ROH magazine announces a gala to support the ROH Covent Garden Foundation on Wednesday 20 May 2020, comprising a programme of opera and ballet on the main stage. There’s the option of dinner with the performers and ROH staff afterwards. Full details will be shared in the Summer 2020 magazine (out in January).
  7. I have one spare Stalls Circle Standing, D11 for this Saturday's matinée, starting at noon, finishes 2.50pm. Cast is Sarah Lamb and Vadim Muntagirov. Please send me a message if interested. Carol
  8. The promotions list is out! Just seen it on Facebook. I don’t know how to put it here but many people will be pleased here. Can an admin move this please?
  9. Paris Opera Ballet: Thanks, Bruce! I'm not sure what the geographic spread of these outside France is, but thought we should record it anyway.
  10. Kevin O’Hare announces at tonight’s insight event that all six of the current Aud Jebsen young dancers have contracts to join the company next season. it was also announced that current RBS dancers Brayden Gallucci and Bomin Kim will be joining the programme in September.
  11. Just seen on Twitter (from the RB) that Nehemiah Kish is retiring from the RB at the end of this season. I'm very sad about that, because I feel as if I only started to know/appreciate him recently. It says on the ROH website that he will be embarking on a course of postgraduate study in the arts and cultural policy in the autumn at Goldsmiths, University of London.
  12. The casting for The Firebird/A Month in the Country/Symphony in C has gone up on the ROH website. Great news as Edward Watson is set to make his comeback partnering Yasmine Naghdi as The Firebird on Opening Night. The 2nd cast The Firebird is Mendizabal/Kish and 3rd cast is Heap/Hirano. https://www.roh.org.uk/mixed-programmes/the-firebird-a-month-in-the-country-symphony-in-c

  14. This opens tonight, so all reports/reviews/discussions here please. I can't believe that there is only one week to go until the end of the RB season....where has it all gone??!!
  15. I have Stalls Circle Standing D51 & D52 available for the Monday 13th May 7.30pm performance of Romeo and Juliet at Royal Opera House - cast is Beatriz Stix-Brunell and Ryoichi Hirano making their debuts. £11 per ticket.
  16. The General Rehearsal is on Monday (March 4th) and I can't believe how many rehearsal tickets remain unsold and how many hundreds of seats are still available for every show. I have never seen anything like it. I do hope that they use Student Standby very actively, otherwise there will be swathes of red velvet right in front of the dancers - and that would be such a pity for them.
  17. Le Royal Ballet à Paris au Festival d'Automne ! https://sceneweb.fr/un-portrait-merce-cunningham-au-festival-dautomne-2019/
  18. As 2019 has just got underway and next seasons programme is due to be announced in three or four months perhaps now may be a good time to discuss what we'd like to see in Kevin O'Hares announcement. You never know, there may be a gap in his schedule that may benefit from a few suggestions. My main wish list is very brief and consists of Onegin, Onegin and Onegin! Not just because Onegin is one of my favourite ballets but of the horrible prospect of possibly losing it from the RB rep. If it isn't performed then as it hasn't been performed for several years. I keep thinking of all the potential new Onegins and Tatianas there are currently in the RB (not to mention Olgas and Lenskys) and imagine whom I'd like to see. It's a very long list! After Onegin I'd like to see more Ashton and possibly see the reinstatement of the Ashton double/triple bill. Also Sylvia filmed for the cinema with Vadim (and preferably Naghdi) as it should have been last time. This would also boost what seems to be the rather paltry, half hearted Fonteyn celebrations. Also If more obscure Ashton could be revived that would be a real bonus as there is a very real danger of losing more obscure works as time goes by. I sometimes feel our founder choreographer isn't appreciated by current management in his old company as much as he should be. Finally, though I have been concentrating on the Royal Ballet company as they are the company I see the most of and have the largest rep. and the most opportunity for choice there is no reason to limit the wish list to one particular company or indeed, country. Nothing to stop it being an international wish list.
