  1. Can anyone recommend any good summer courses which are early in the summer? Dd breaks up from school around the first week of July so could go anytime from then. We are in London but she is happy to board.
  2. I know it's a bit last minute but does anyone know of any Easter dance courses this year? Dd is intermediate level ballet and also does tap, modern and jazz. We're in London but she would be happy to do a residential one.
  3. Message from Olivia Pickford (OPES/MTB amongst others) It is with huge delight that I announce I am starting a new residential Annual Easter Course called Malvern Ballet Seminars. Dates : 29th March - 1st April 2016 Price - Not too bad! Enquiries - malvernballetseminars@gmail.com ................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... My daughter is absolutely gutted that we already have a holiday booked and paid for during these dates.
  4. Hello, it will be my dd's first time attending this course. Could anyone give me an idea of the timetable and what the average age/grade are for each group. Also, how many leotards would you suggest bringing. Which colour/style is best? Thanks in advance Xx
  5. Hi Forum Friends, my DS has won a scholarship to study at The Bolshoi Summer Intensive from the 18th of July, are any of your dancing children attending? as I am having sleepless nights worrying about him traveling there alone at 14. The Bolshoi expect the international children to make their own transfer arrangements. I am fine with the plane part as he would be able to use unaccompanied kids, but the thought of him looking out for a taxi driver with his name on a card and then the 2 hour drive to CT is a step too far for me. DS would be devastated if I won't let him take up such a wonderful opportunity. If any of you are attending and could share the on wards journey I would feel much happier. Here's hoping!!!!
  6. BBA are running an Easter course from Tuesday 29th March - Friday 1st April open to students age 10-18. There will be two groups juniors 10-13 ( Grade 5 min requirement) and seniors 11-18 (Inter min requirement) Guest teachers each day. James Leece ( Matthew Bourne ), Carrie Jonhson ( ex soloist BRB and Matthew Bourne) and Rosina Andrews ( International choreographer New York Jazz ). For more info. Contact linda@beckenhamballetacademy.co.uk
  7. Just thought I'd share what I've done this year to pay for dd's summer schools. Last year OPES kindly let us pay instalments but this year I opened a Halifax Regular Savers account for dd. You pay in a set amount by direct debit each month & the interest rate is one of the best available according to MSE plus the interest is tax free. You can't withdraw from it until the 12 months is up. When it matured it was paid into a normal savings account & we have enough there to pay for her summer schools up front this year. It means dd has a set budget so has some freedom as to what courses to choose up to the maximum amount of money saved.

  14. Hello dancers! We are really excited to announce that our Summer Session will be running again this year in the Clapham/Battersea/Wandsworth area, at Broomwood Hall School. Junior Summer Session Sunday 7th - Tuesday 9th August Intermediate Summer Session Wednesday 10th - Saturday 13th August Senior Summer Session Wednesday 10th - Saturday 13th August Aimed at dancers aged 9 and over, our Summer Session includes classes and workshops in classical ballet, contemporary and jazz dance. Working with our experienced faculty, students will gain a greater insight into these dance forms, including a taste of what to expect when auditioning and performing professionally. Whilst being extremely hard work, and sometimes challenging, our workshops have a friendly and supportive atmosphere. 21. I actually can't believe I this but I have just set up a spreadsheet to keep track of all the different summer schools dates, application deadlines, photo requirements, deposit cost etc. My head was starting to swim with all the different options, plus as so many summer school dates seem to conflict with each other AND school term times I needed to get it clear! Now I understand why other forum members have trumpeted the value of a good spreadsheet when it comes to auditions etc.
