  1. Does anyone have experience of SS at Rambert School - good or bad experiences, please share.
  2. Hi, is anyone familiar or have email contact details for the Ballet Boost summer course at Pineapple Studios? I have emailed the "info" email address on their website a couple of times already but have received no response. I know the summer course is from age 8, but I wanted to ask them if my DD will be allowed to join as she will only be less than a month from turning 8 when the course starts. We have found it so difficult finding holiday/summer courses that are purely dance/ballet (although there seems to be a wealth of musical theatre ones!) and was very excited to see this.
  3. The Sarasota Ballet's International Intensive 2017 I'm delighted to announce the guest faculty for summer 2017: Dominic Antonucci - Ballet Master, Birmingham Royal Ballet Etta Murfitt - Associate Artistic Director, Matthew Bourne's New Adventures Robert Parker - Artistic Director, Elmhurst Ballet School Iain Webb - Director, The Sarasota Ballet Margaret Barbieri, Assistant Director, The Sarasota Ballet This is the first time in America that students will have the opportunity to work with these eminent artists and especially Matthew Bourne's company. It takes place from June 25 - July 29 2017 and international students can audition via video or online. I hope some readers of balletco will spread the word! For more information, please visit: https://www.sarasotaballet.org/international-intensive-summer-2017 Thank you! Christopher Hird Director or Education The Sarasota Ballet
  4. I auditioned for this and was wondering if anyone also did. I went to this Summer intensive 3 years ago and it was great. Hoping someone can tell me when they recieve their replies and if they are going ( possibly we can meet up). I looked for a topic on this but couldn't find one, so I just created one.
  5. Interesting to see they have extended the programme this year to four weeks in order to open up more spaces for applicants. Wl summer school now running for all of July pretty much which also gives much more choice for those children who are at state school and tied to those term dates. Definitely worth a punt with double the amount of spaces I reckon. Also, hasn't there been a much higher level of international students taking places in recent years? Perhaps this is an attempt by the new(ish) director to open more spaces up to UK students??
  6. I can't seem to find a website for this school well, I can but it is not as informative as the one I remember browsing before. I recall reading about their summer school and spring mid term camp but has their website changed? I cannot find any practical information about it now. Help!

  8. We are looking for a two week course to send students on scholarship - they will be flying in to Heathrow or Luton. We are considering YBSS, but the journey up there from London seems to be too difficult without a chaperone. All the RAD summer schools are now only one week and we would prefer two. Does anyone have any suggestions??? Or alternatively ideas on how to get the girls to York safely????
  9. Hello all, My dd is attending this in a few weekend's time. Has anyone got any details through, eg start times, kit required etc? We are keen to firm up arrangements. I wondered of we'd missed an email. Thanks Flora11
  10. I don't think anyone's mentioned this one before, but we stumbled upon this short dance course on FaceBook. I've signed DD up as its three days and two nights residential and the teachers look great! It's actually up near Nottingham, but as that's pretty accessible for many of us I thought it might be worth mentioning. Shannon and Peter Parker are teaching ballet, Lukas Macfarlane is teaching contemporary and then there are other classes such as tap over the three days. It's the first year that they've run it (I think this organisation usually organise Festivals) but it looks like a great one for part of half term. A friend of mine knows the organisers and says they have a very good reputation. Here's a link to contact them for anyone wanting more info: http://kingsfestival.co.uk/kamp.html
  11. Hi I thought it would be useful to compile a list of summer schools which have funding available - in UK and abroad. Any starters?
  12. I apologise if this question has already been asked but I can't seem to find it. Elmhurst Summer school for a 14 yr old. What Grade (pref incl marks for latest exam) are the other girls that have been successful in the past that have been offered a place? How many apply (success rate in applying) and how many in each class, are they split per age or grades? Can't appear to find any info on the website. ???? Thank you. Ps Any further info gratefully received ????
  13. We have to book holiday dates for next summer so I'm trying to pin down SS dates. I've researched on here and think I've narrowed it down to Opes or York Dance Assembly. Which would you recommend for a first time residential. ..lots of ballet but perhaps some musical theatre too. Know I'm asking a lot now but does anybody have any dates for 2017? Thanks...you're all brilliant.
  14. Is there anything out there starting after August 15 for a post 16 vocational dancer UK or Europe?
  15. Could anyone kindly tell me what the schedule was like last year at the junior summer school please? How was the day structured in terms of ballet, jazz , other classes etc and timings of things? ThNks

  18. Hi all - I'm unable to go to the presentation class tomorrow. If anyone is going I have a favour to ask …. please send PM if you might be able to help . TIA
  19. Any other ballet co dancers doing this next week ? It looks exciting !
  20. Hi again, my dd will be 9 next year therefore able to go residential on a course. I know that at this age they are limited to where they can go but I still have a few questions about the places she can go. She does ballet tap and modern and at the moment her passion is ballet - in the future she would like to dance with a professional ballet company. At this age do you think she should still try both ballet only courses and mixed dance courses? Would she get a real feel of where her passion lies or is she still too young to decide even after doing course? Or at this age would she gain regardless of whether is all ballet or mixed dance? Second question. Out of the courses, there are photo requirement ones and non- photo requirement ones. Are there any differences between these courses? (I've been looking at YBSS and OPES to choose between for next summer). Thank you xx
  21. My 10 year old dd is doing the morning ballet summer school next week for the first time. Any other dcs going to be there? It would be good to meet fellow balletcoforum parents!

  25. HI all, does anyone know which day you are supposed to arrive for the Covent Garden summer school? A friend of DS from the USA is attending and staying with us this weekend, she seems to have told DS she needs to arrive on Monday but my memory is that usually you arrive Sunday. As DS is getting ready to go to Benicassim and flies on Tues it would logistically be better if he took her up on Sunday... Anyone have insider info? The website just says the timing will be sent in the info packs... I know it would be logical (before anyone points this out) just ti ask her, but we are talking teenage communication - I could be waiting until I have grey hair to get the answer. And DS has several Monday appointments that need to be changed today if he's going to London Mon... Many thanks!
