  1. Hi My dd wants to do a summer school this year as she finds it a long time to not dance "properly" as she calls it, over the summer. I have a couple of questions. It is local to us so she would be a day student, as well as she is only 9 years old.....would she miss out on anything in the evening if she didn't board? Finally it's over two weeks but we can only do the second week as the first week is still school term for us. Again will she miss out on anything from the first week? Thanks everyone!!! Edited as I don't know the order of the months of the year!!!!!!!
  2. Can anyone recommend some adult summer courses/ retreats this summer? Any weekends in UK or suggestions would be greatly received. I'm sad to say I can't do the Chelsea Ballet as it's the one week I'm away with my children. Thank you
  3. Hi gang, Just wondered if I could pick your brains about SS. DS has read about them and is keen but I don’t want him to be out of his depth! Can anyone advise of any that would accommodate him? He’s 10, and has stayed away from home before but not for more than 4 nights. Been dancing for 2 years, top of grade 2 now but was unsuccessful at vocational school audition for year 7. Would love for him to have a really good, positive experience. Cost not that important as long as he has a good time and location as near to the M6 corridor as poss. Thank you...👍👍👍
  4. Hi everyone, This summer (July 16-July 27) I’ll go to ENB summer course, there is someone that will take part to the summer course who’s looking for a flat to share in the school area?
  5. When I joined this forum I was committed to keeping post regular and interesting! Fail!! Life, motherhood and extra teaching has put a stop to that! However I have just finished a wonderful 6 months at Rambert School and now finally have a minute to think and communicate! If your dancers aged 8+ and up to 16 years of age are looking for some summer performance fun! And you can commute to Highbury, North London, then do consider my 'Summer Sensations' workshop weeks in August. There are plenty of big name summer schools that will aim to boost your technique; and so my weeks are performance weeks... a little treat which will boost your STAGE PRESENCE and your CONFIDENCE and remind you, if you need, that ballet is GREAT FUN!! (well yes ok I will boost your technique too, I can't help it!) We have so much fun and you will be entertained and amazed at how much we can create in 5 days when you watch the performance/s at the end of the week/s. These workshops are suitable for vocational and non-vocational dancers; I do have children from vocational schools joining me (White Lodge, YDA, Italia Conti, Tring, Royal Ballet MAs etc) but I also am pleased to meet non-vocational children who are dancing purely for fun... a wonderful time is had by all. I am pretty sure there are some parents and dancers on this forum who can validate this for me Please do email for further information and/or to book. There is a £50 discount for anyone booking before May 1st 2018 BACK TO TRAINING IN AUGUST I also have a back to training week in August. This runs for 5 half days and consists of YOGA for dancers, a Ballet class (with me!) plus a gentle stretch. Venue to be confirmed. Happy Dancing one and all and do get in touch Sarah
  6. Has anyone applied for this years summer school at OPES? Ive been trying to contact them for the past couple of weeks via phone and email and had no luck. I can download the form for applying which is fine, but I dont want to send it off with payment before checking first that they have spaces etc. Can anyone whos been there/going this year tell me how it works X

  10. I had a skim through previous Elmhurst SS topics, but could not spot an answer (probably one very obvious, sorry!) Just wanted to ask if you need to send money in with your application? It says £25 discount before 9th March, but i know with RBS there was an application fee, wondering if it is the same for Elmhurst? Hoping to send the forms off today 😊 thank you ! 💕
  11. Could anyone recommend a Summer School for all types of dance not just ballet, we are Midlands based but willing to travel, many thanks
  12. Hi there. I am new to this forum as well as the world of ballet at vocational level. My daughter is 12 and although she has an audition date for RBS MA's in Jan (which I believe the majority of applicants get anyway) both applications for the Spring Intensive programmes at WL and HK were sadly declined. Although the email still encourages us to reapply for future courses, I was just wondering if any other applicants have experienced the same rejection email/letters and how many times they were declined before their application was finally accepted? I realise that the demand is high and the number of places are limited. But as RBS do not offer individual feedback, I did not want to continue paying a deposit for each application if they think my child does not fit the RBS's "ideal" profile. I am thinking that the audition she has in January will be a good indicator. In the meantime, we will keep our options open and start looking at other schools. I would be interested in hearing anyone elses experience.
  13. Hello! does anybody have any idea whether the Central spring course is first come first served or by selection? Just because you have to send photos in, I'm not sure. thank you! Feel free to add any other info about the course! I'm debating whether to do Central or Ballet Boost, as I can't make MBS dates this year 😪

  16. Hi. I wondered if any of you could help me. I am looking for Associate Classes/Summer Schools for an 11 year old (turns 12 in October) in the South Wales area. I am aware of Ballet Cymru, although she is too young for their associate class this year. Obviously the closer the better, but we are prepared to travel a bit. For reference we are 1 hr 40 min from Bristol, 2 hr 30 min from Birmingham and 3 hr 30 min from London. Too far from London, I think, for an every week class. Ideally I am looking for things that we haven't missed the closing date/auditions for, although ideas for next year would be helpful too. Thank you so much!
