  1. Thank you Glowlight, my daughter would consider a cruise job I think. Only possible problem is that she is not covid vaccinated (due to phobia) so the US cruise lines will be out. Where is the best place to look for cruise line jobs?
  2. Thank you. We are based in London but I think she would consider anywhere in the UK. Maybe not overseas just yet. As well as contemporary she has experience in ballet, tap and jazz.
  3. My daughter is graduating this year in contemporary dance and will be looking for her first job. She's done some research herself but it's all a bit overwhelming! Can anyone recommend any particular companies that she might look at? And any other advice for new graduates? Many thanks.
  4. Thanks, I don't think she would get into Central unfortunately.
  5. Hello, my 15 year old dd is looking for extra classes to supplement her regular ones. She would like ballet and contemporary in particular. Can anyone recommend something that might suit her? I don't think she is strong enough for very competitive programmes. We have looked at Tring Park Associates that might work but ideally I would like Central London so she can get there herself!
  6. Phone just goes to voicemail and says the office is closed! Does anyone have a number I could try please?
  7. Is anyone else auditioning for Tring Park Associates on Sunday and have you received details, times etc? I’ve got a confirmation email that says times etc will be sent the week before but I haven’t received anything. Very annoyed with myself that I didn’t realise this till Friday evening. I’m worried that I won’t he able to contact anyone at the school over the weekend.
  8. Would your daughter consider a BTEC as an alternative to A Levels? It's hard if you're academic and A Levels are the obvious route but you can get into good Russell Group universities with a BTEC.
  9. Thank you. It does make sense that the fees are higher than at other universities but it doesn't seem fair that students can't get the full amount of loan of £9K. Even with this, they still have a shortfall of £6K.
  10. Fees at LSC are currently around £15k/year (ouch!) Even though this is a degree course attached to a university, the maximum loan students can take out for the fees is around £6K leaving a huge shortfall. At other universities, as I understand it, fees are around £9K and students can take a loan to cover this in full and it's not means tested. Does anyone know the reason for this difference?
  11. Any other suggestions for summer schools that are less ballet focussed?
  12. Thank you, excellent advice. Dd wouldn't want to dance the whole summer but it would be nice to do a week or two. MBS does seem to be quite ballet focussed, dd not keen on pointe work! She mainly does contemporary and jazz.
  13. Thank you, international sounds expensive! And probably difficult this year with travel restrictions etc.
  14. What do vocational students generally do over the summer to keep up their training? Dd is finishing her first year. As of yet they haven't been given any guidance about this (busy with upcoming show). Dd has been thinking about a summer school but they seem to have an upper age limit of 18!
  15. Balletmom225, this is awful, your poor daughter! The girls and the MUMS are making comments?! It’s bullying. Get her out of there and fast.
  16. Is anyone else auditioning on 7th March for TPA? My 13 year old dd is very keen but I wanted to find out how competitive it is to get a place. My oldest dd was at TPA for several years and had a great time and found the training to be top notch. Little dd is probably less able than her older sister (generally gets Merits for dance exams) and I want to manage her expectations.
  17. Thank you for this really helpful information. They don't sound like a good idea at all! I have sent the info to dd, hopefully it will put her off the idea.
  18. Thank you, she's not on Instagram but uses Snapchat and TikTok. I have no idea where she heard about them from.
  19. When I said the school, I mean the school that the Cambridges' children attend.
  20. 13 year old dd has asked for a stretch ladder. Has anyone got one and are they safe to use? Where can I buy, a quick look online and everywhere seems to be out of stock!
  21. There is on street parking just round the corner, near the school. I can't remember the name of the road but if you come out of the RAD and turn right then immediately right again it's there. It's a residential road. We used to go on Sundays and the parking was free but I imagine it's pay by phone on weekdays.
  22. Our dance school has been fantastic throughout lockdown, providing zoom lessons from April onwards. I'm so grateful to them. But I really feel for anyone not able to dance 😞
