Bolshoi and Mariinsky promotions.

She didn't get into the main company because she doesn't have a perfect build. Valeria would do well in the Mariinsky, especially considering Fateyev's favouring of Perm graduates -

This is what happens when dancers are left in lower ranks too long π. Fateyev deserves to be fired. -

Royal Ballet 2022/23 Winter Ticket Prices
Nastya replied to Bluebird's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
I'm not sure exactly, but I THINK it's around 20-30%, I might be wrong though. Good English to someone who speaks is better than awful Russian π. Birmingham Royal Ballet and English National are the other two main ones, right? And Northern Ballet.- 238 replies

Royal Ballet 2022/23 Winter Ticket Prices
Nastya replied to Bluebird's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
Bolshoi is weird with prices, sometimes it's 70 euros for a foreigner for a good seat, sometimes it's expensive as you mention, but the Bolshoi is generally more expensive than others. For example Osipova never went to a performance until she was in the academy. And some people pay 15,000 rubles for very good seats for ballets, but most wouldn't pay that price. I think when I went to the Bolshoi (though I'm not sure as I didn't pay) it was around 10,000 rubles per seat for good seats, which is way more than would usually be paid for seeing a ballet, but Bolshoi is expensive. Unfairly I'd say, but there are many other ballet theatres at least. Have the majority even seen a good ballet considering the prices? The UK doesn't even fund the ballet academies, going to Vaganova as a foreigner (which is expensive, though free for Russians) is cheaper than full price for RBS. The Mikhailovsky is cheaper, simply because it's smaller and not as well known, though still an elite company. Though you would get cheaper tickets for ballet as a Russian citizen, they make a lot of money by overcharging tourists. It's pretty much told to them they are having one of the best experiences of their lives and then they pay double (maybe an exaggeration, I am not sure of what foreigners pay exactly)- 238 replies

As much as they should. Do ordinary people even have the opportunity to see ballet or opera or classical concerts etc.? Art isn't for money, is ROH being reduced to a cash cow?- 238 replies

150 pounds(e.g), so about 10,850 rubles. How do ordinary people in the UK go to ballets?! The Mariinsky is ten times cheaper, even for overcharged (yes) tourists. It's really disgusting that they charge so much.- 238 replies

Lada Sartakova at the Primorsky is getting an extreme amount of roles. She is very talented, I hope she gets to the main Mariinsky soon. -
Thank you! I agree very much with what you have said.

Maybe this will be controversial. How much is too much in your opinion? Any? A little, every day (ok, everyone knows everyday is too much).

@Jeannette I hope so. They're far from Western, though original choreography by a French man, in Russia danced by Russians with Russian music.

It's more Russian people, in ballet or not, against Putin and Ukraine war than a lot of foreigners would think. I'd say even a majority of younger generation are not supporting. -
It looks like Parish might come back after Ukraine. Nagahisa seems like a good fit for RB, maybe she'll get a contract.

Nadezhda Batoeva has been named prima of the Mariinsky. Very good news. It's long overdue. Hopefully Shakirova next, and Lukina and Bulanova to first soloist πππ -
This is one thread because I didn't want to make two. I'm sure everyone heard, but the Bolshoi did lot of the promotions recently. Alena Kovalyova promoted to Prima Ballerina. Egor Gerashchenko was promoted to the principal position. Elizaveta Kokoreva and Eva Sergeenkova were made Leading Soloist. At the Mariinsky Theatre, Alexandra Khiteyeva was made CoryphΓ©e, and has even been dancing roles like Maria in the Fountain of Bakhchisarai. Renata Shakirova will probably be promoted to prima soon. She has had a lot, she debuted Nikiya and is going to debut Paquita in early July. Hopefully Maria Bulanova and Anastasia Lukina will be made first soloist soon as well.
